ambulanced to A&E

hi all, well last night was absolute disaster, did a few bit yesterday and as the day went on started feeling very poorly, horrendous pain in my back, sick, dizzy, palpitations, very breathless. Hubby called an ambulance they were with me in ten minutes, did all my obs and decided a trip to A&E was in order. The pain was so bad and because of pe they wanted to be safe rather than sorry. Once on the ambulance was given morphine, which was a god send as was taking paracetamol all day but nothing was hitting the pain. Had bloods done again and a chest X-ray, they said that bloods showed everything was going in the right direction and to take stronger painkillers for the pain. I think I’m going to spend a couple of days resting and hopefully things will settle down. Was a very frightening experience. My hubby thinks it may of been a bit of panic as well. But what ever it was it was nasty. (Note to self) listen to your body . Take care and thank you for reading. It helps just putting it out there

Good idea to rest Cimmy and I’m sure you’ll feel better soon. Your hubby did the right thing by calling an ambulance.

Best wishes to you. Xxx

you need to rest and leave chores.

What I do is fill washing up bowl with with soapy water, even if you can’t do it straight away it gives it a soak.

Housework is always there, you are more important.

I hop they have given you better painkillers.don’t be frightened to take them.they will help you move more easily.

Please rest up,and hopefully things will start to settle

the GPS used to tell me off for not taking enough pain relief,I just thought I was getting old and expiring more aches and pains, not realising it was rheumatoid athritis.

Take care of yourself x

I remember when I had a friend in distress on the phone and I had put the washing up in to soak and had told them the washing up could sit and soak for a bit as it wasn't going anywhere and gave them support on the phone.

Phew…. What a nightmare. Your husband sounds a treasure. Just take things easily. Small steps. And lots of treats.

hi katinka46, thank you for your kind reply, yes my husband is a love, he must of been worried to call an ambulance as he’s not 1 to panic. I’m definitely resting today, feel absolutely shattered, so it’s a sofa and duvet day x

Take it easy. As Oshgosh said, housework keeps. Gradually you learn to turn a blind eye to it!

I remember when I first came back home after being discharged from the hospital after I had a PE and one night I had leg cramps and I had panicked and taken myself up to a and e!

Thankfully it was just a basic muscle cramp rather than anything nasty!

A and E were good though and said no I wasn't wasting their time by going to see them if I was worried!

There's nothing like severe pain to cause a panic! Been there! It's horrible and very frightening.I hope you're feeling better now you've been checked over. Reassurance from the medics can make a huge difference I find.

That was scary. You probably need to listen to your body and take it easy for a while. It IS hard but you could keep setting yourself back if you don't. Try yoga for gentle moving, stretching and breathing.

Wow what a miracle the ambulance coming in 10 mins -usually they are telling people it will be a few hours or more before they can get there

Did they give an exact diagnosis

Its good news that that your xray & bloods were "going in the right direction"

Yes have a really good rest -I wish you a speedy recovery-I agree with sassy your husband did do the right thing & called the ambulance

Turnipgirl profile image
Turnipgirl in reply to horseygirl_0103

The ambulance staff don't mind if you ring them because you are frightened and its a false alarm!

Its when they are called out maliciously that they get cross!
