Does anyone in the greater Glasgow and clyde health board use this?My question is if the Gp or nurse gives me a prescription for prednisolone it is for 40 . But the chemist says they can only give me 30.

Just wondering if it just my chemist.

Have you asked the pharmacist why they can only give you 30? If you can't get any sense out of them, I think you had better contact your surgery and ask them to take it up with the pharmacist. Good luck.

They said it was guidlines.. I spoke to my Gp today who gave me a prescription but even he was bemused .I just wondered if other pharmacy's did the same or did they dispense more.

I will not be going back to that particular pharmacy as they have made numerous mistakes. Last week I ended getting somebody elses medication out of the dispensing robot .

Thank you for your advise.

It sounds as if you will be well rid of that pharmacy. Good luck in finding a better one.

My pharmacist refused a gp prescription in January. I got the gp practice to ring them and they backed down.

The pharmacist is now refusing my medications again as the gp practice has failed for three years to carry out the necessary annual reviews.

The gp practice says the pharmacy has no right to refuse their prescriptions.

So we will see what happens this time.

That sounds a lot worse than my situation. I feel its like bullying tactics. The emotional impact has been awful.

I hope you can get your situation sorted out.

I am putting in a formal complaint about the pharmacy as they are incompetent which includes twice giving me someone elses medication.

Is this a rescue prescription or a regular one? I only have the rescue pack but it has been increased to 56 i.e. 8 a day for seven days.

Its a wee card ( picture above) that allows me to get prednisolone and antibiotics on 6 occasions without seeing my GP or respiratory nurse effectively my rescue pack.It sounded great when I got it last year, but it has turned into a bit of a nightmare as pharmacist dont know how it works.

Hi Teddyd

Glasgow based here and I recently replied to a post on here who shared this link above. It’s guidlines but my Gp has since put me back up to 40 a day for 5 days as the 30 wasn’t quite helping me get over a recent exasperations. Gp also quoted that for 30 a day is for those under 50kg which I don’t fall into. I did notice early in the pandemic my repeat was changed from 40-30 fortunately I didn’t need it as shielding kept me pretty much free from chest infections.

However I don’t get the wee card.
