Hi I have emphysema also bronchiectasis and asthma since 2014 and the mild emphysema is still mild it's mainly the bronchiectasis that causes the infections. hi I am from London, I was diagnosed in 2017 after a cancer screening luckily no cancer but they found 4 holes in the top of my lungs, at first I was on no medication and then the GPs decided that I should have a plan in place with rescue meds, my breathing was ok no problems at that time. Over time I have had a few exasperation s where I have taken the rescue medication, now I have holes bottom, top and rear of lungs , I have FND which means I was unable to do pulmonary rehab ( I don’t know if you have anything over there). But I try and do what I can breathing wise . I am now on a daily inhaler with a backup for emergency use, strange thing is when tested my emphysema is still mild you have to learn what you can and cannot do( I can’t do stairs anymore) and slopes are a problem. Good luck in the future get all the help you can and enjoy your life as much as you can. Good luck. Kevin

I believe a healthy lifestyle and fun help you keep positive! After pr I started yoga, pilates and seated zumba and they have conributed to me remaining reasonably stable. (Severe/very severe) I also have a very supportive husband and daughter and am looked after by Harefield transplant and palliative care team and a respiratory consultant. My gp surgery is 🤬! Doing things you enjoy doing is very important even if you have to change your ideas of fun. E.g. I can no longer act but love live theatre, drama, comedy gigs, musicals, music, we've always got something booked. This week we are seeing Miriam Margoyles on Wednesday and Angela Barnes on Friday. I also enjoy holidays! Next week a few days in Bradford, Leeds and Saltaire and then Ibiza in July. Try to do something fun each day, learn a new hobby - I can finally crochet a granny square! Good luck. 🙂
