after my second spell in hospital 5 days this time ,after a scan i have water in one lung ,small pneumothrax THEY FOUND THIS OUT DURING MY SPELL IN HOSPITAL JUST BEFORE XMAS, nothing to do about it they said , i don't need oxygen because after exertion my sats 83/84% have a quick recovery up to90/92%, so yesterday a phone call from the hospital, can i come in today to do a scan standing up, why couldn't they do this while i was in there? sorry for the moan but that is just how i feel right now. thanks now for any replies.

Good question whit. They do seem to be blessed with hindsight. Sometimes we just have to go along with them.
It’s called joined up thinking whit. Sometimes people just don’t have it. Hoping the scan goes well and you’re soon home again. Xxx❤️
Better late than never, I suppose. I'm afraid our convenience comes a bad second to theirs. Why do they give me appointments at quarter to nine, for instance? which means I have to get a taxi, because it's too cold for buses and too dark to drive. Moan over.
they don't think. not their job they dont know what you can or not do, and just work down the list.it ca be difficult getting a taxi at certain times too .
if a problem why not try asking for patient transport.
have IPF. Sarcoidosis and spent 5 days in hospital last summer with the same as you Pneumothorax this time trapped air. I had a scan and was on oxygen during this period, on discharge I was told that if the pain occurred again to call 999 thankfully it has now cleared. Take care hope all goes well regarding this.
It makes no sense to me that if your exertion oxygen rate is that low that you don’t need oxygen. You could be exerting yourself for long periods of time without being properly oxygenated. I’m not a doctor but I would question this with another pulmonologist.

Wish you the best. medical care is really spotty everywhere these days and shortage of docs for many reasons.
thank you HeartMe ..
I am still awaiting 24hr BP monitor - it is now some three months - however, following my last ‘visit’ to hospital - after a week long stay - I was then put on DNR - with no advice what I or my wife should do if it happens again.
I suppose being DNR will then answer the question for them -
Sad.....
Apparently because my recovery rate from low 80 to 90 is quick, but when i said your'e only testing that on a 5 yard walk what about something more strenuous i was told not to worry about it.
I don’t know where you live or your insurance, but for lung issues I hope you can see a pulmonologist. A GP is not a lung specialist and if you do exertion at that low level of oxygen, your health can be seriously endangered. A pulmonologist can make a diagnosis of what may be causing this and your treatment varies based on this. In any case, I am sure you would be prescribed oxygen. Wish you the best in navigating this.
Hospitals seem to waste so much time now .., when we had a family doctor years ago they would see an illness right through to the end ... Doctors don't have the time of day or the quality of care any more .. you get so many minutes and if you can't cram all your concerns in then.... you lose your chance so you have to leave it
So by the time you get round to see the consultant things have changed...
It's no wonder we never seem to get anywhere...
There's no personal connection now ,.. and the receptionist does all the groundwork now so allow the clinicians to decide if you merit getting in to the surgery...
