Just curious. Why do some of us take Carbosisteine as a syrup and others take it as capsules? I've compared the dosage of two capsules three times a day with three 15ml 'shots' of syrup a day and they're exactly the same.

I am not sure, but I do know some people have difficulties swallowing capsules or tablets .I take the capsules wasn't offered liquid.

I wonder if there is a cost difference??

perhaps it's to do with some people finding the capsules a bit harsh on the stomach?

Teddyd is right. Some folk have problems swallowing due to age, medical conditions, may have stomach feeding tube or a trachy to breathe. Syrups are more expensive but are prescribed if required.

I take carbosisteine capsules 3 times a day and find it beneficial.

In the 1960's/70's. The liquid form was all there was ...The carbocysteine capsules are relatively new .since the 1980's.

I don't know but could it be to do with self management? I take oxycodone to help my breathing but prefer the linctus to the tablets as it gives me more control. I can tweak the amount according to my needs.
