looking for Lifeline recommendation.

hi all.

Looking for a recommendation for a good reliable lifeline service for my dad. He has PF and is struggling at the moment. His nurse has suggested this would give him some reassurance.

There are so many and so many conflicting reviews so wanted to ask you all if you had a good one.

Thanks.

laura.

Do you mean pendent alarm? If so there are some companies that do this but personally I would go through the council/local authority to arrange via them. Please ensure that you dad would wear alarm. They can be worn as pendant or like a wrist watch, however are absent useless if person doesn’t wear it!! And my work experience tells me that many people have this and don’t wear it!!

yes. One of the alarms he can wear round neck or on wrist.

My local council no longer provide the service but have a recommended service from Progress Life but we can use any service.

I believe that some are much better than others so was looking to see if any recommended providers.

I think dad will wear it as he is very vulnerable now.

We got ours through Age UK. I don't know if they're any better or worse than others. I know we get a quick and pleasant response when we test it.

I had the falls monitor originally and it was no good as would set the alarm off even if I was sitting watching TV! I tried three different ones (all sent at their expense) but they were all too sensitive for me. So now I have one that I wear on my wrist and so does my husband.

There are many to choose from now, including ones that you can wear in the community and have a GPS tracker in them so that if you are taken ill away from home (or even get lost) the emergency services can find you.

I would make enquiries from a few different providers and then make the choice.

The alarms have given us great peace of mind. Technically, they can be worn in the shower or bath, but we don't as the strap gets wet. I put mine on the floor of the bathroom so that if I faint, I can reach the button when I come around. If my husband is out in the garden or garage, I take my phone in too and lay that on the floor (out of the way of any water, obviously) so that I can call him if necessary.

Good luck with finding the right one.

xx Moy

Had a lady, who had one, spent all night on the floor. She always took it off when sitting down for the evening, hung it on side of gas fire, it melted, she was too embarrassed to tell anyone.

I use LifeConnect 24 (formerly Lifeline 24) for my

Parents-in law, and they have been very good, if it’s any help.

I am in the process of plugging in the Age UK one, choice of 3 versions. I like the one, where if I fall it notifies the base people and I can talk to the pendant, rather than shout at the base in my home.

going to give them a ring shortly. Do you know the monthly cost for that one?

Ranged from £17.70, to mine £23.99, most expensive (GPS) for falls etc when away from home £26.99. There was an offer, if paid a year in advance, 10% off.
