Probably because the range of 'allowed' discussions is so limited! X

it’s been quiet here recently …..don’t know why .

I have been backwards and forwards to hospital having treatment for a skin lesion ….that’s been taking up my time .

ooh not nice. I was in a couple of weekends ago with Cellulitis in my arm. It’s just one thing after the other for me so I can sympathise with you. First I was ill for seven weeks with Aspergillosis. Then I had a urine infection then I was in hospital with Cellulitis then I had a small op on a mole in my leg now my Diverticular disease has flared up and I’ve got another urine infection. Do you think if they put us in a bag and shook us up we would be ok?🤣. X

If they put us all in the same bag, it would be interesting to see who came out with what. 🙃🙃 xxx

I’ve had a couple days with only 2/3 posts. We seem to be losing a lot of interesting members 🐞

it’s a shame isn’t it.

Hello Mavary , I get more than one or two but I am on several different sites and had noticed the amount is lesser just recently. It may be Christmas coming, more forums on Zoom these days or people are ill with winter ailments. If I remember right , some of the BLF have moved elsewhere since being merged with Asthma UK. There does seem to be more weight related posts for support. Hope you are keeping well nice to see you again.

I see. I know they weren’t happy with all lung things being included. I knew some of the had gone over but I don’t see the point. It’s still covered by the BLF. It’s a shame but they didn’t have to reply to the ones that didn’t apply to them.

I’ve not been too special with one thing and the other. I’m ofvto the Dr at 11.40.

I hope you are keeping well.

Very True Mavary, I stayed loyal to the site as did many others, Only answer the posts I want . Like yourself I am visiting the doctor more now since my knee replacement and trying to get my BP controlled with little success. But soldiering on with most trips out for medical reasons. Keep well and warm xx

Mavary in reply to katieoxo60

me too. It’s a case of having to soldier on when you are on your own. It’s hard but we get there.

Thats what it really is like being alone, but the other side of the coin we are answerable only to ourselves . Just been to a christmas party Sunday , Then off out with my sister in the car on Thursday. but then nothing going on till christmas weekend. Thats the first time I have been out to a big party /social gathering for three years. due to pandemic, operation and most groups have folded. Hopefully next year will be better. I have had the virus too. Now Iam a telephone volunteer for Athritis Action I ring and talk to people about managing their arthritis especially those who live alone. Bye for now xx

Monday 28th today, no-one has posteposted for over 18 hours and that poor person has had no replies. It is a shame . Personally I'm just down for various reasons although lungs not too bad thank goodness. Hope doctor'doctor's visit went well today. P ×××

Hmph, I’d thought it was quiet too, given the stated number of members. As a fairly recent one, I’m a bit embarrassed about the amount of yakking I appear to do (I’m blaming hospital boredom and prednisone). You’ll notice embarrassment hasn’t shut me up though 🤣

Why do we have to stick to totally uncontroversial stuff. A courteous exchange of opinions - avoiding religion or party politics - what’s wrong with that? No one’s even mentioned football, or Matt Hancock! Or what’s happening to our beloved nhs. And why are GPs the only profession who aren’t seeing patients. There’s only so much you can say about pets and shopping.

or chocolate !

actually have just had unexpected visitor. I usaually dont get visitors and am trying to get help with my computer from age uk. with little success . My router has been hacked and is used to power other computers elsewhere with varied access, last week none. this week so good so far .

so all my friends are miles away or even older that me and parking is not easy . all excuses of course but i have lost all my friends here since covid closed things down. I t seems I am still on housebound list somehow, although i now have car and blue badge and i have lost my nerve to drive it.

So District Nurse sent to take blood s but she is in worse state than most of us . she had a routine prescribed op, but they perforated her bowel and she had to have bowel resection s few days later at a different hospital . now she has to take laxatives but is not absorbing the nutrients she needs and is losing weight, so has to take vitamin B12 to help. also told she could have colostomy bag and that could be reversed after 3 months .. Is still doing full time job as district nurse . she is only 33. if she cant absorb the nutrients she will continue to lose weight and then what?

i believe she is a good nurse and too valuable to lose. Life has been very unfair to her.

goodness me. That’s a lot of things that has gone wrong. I drive a car but only drive fairly local. I don’t want to be going very far. I was never at home when my Husband was here. We would be out most days. I don’t even look to do that now.

I’m useless with the tech side of computers. Luckily I’ve got a Son who’s very good at solving any problems. He always says what have you done to it. I say it’s just done it. 😹. I haven’t got a clue.

Oh gosh. That poor nurse. I can sympathise with her. I’ve had my sigmoid colon removed. I had a colostomy bag or a stoma bag for eight months and then had it reversed.

She should be fine to carry on with her job after she recovers. It does take a long time to get over that sort of op. I hope she will be ok and soon back seeing people.

We do talk of other things on here. Obviously we try to help others when they need it and try to stick a lot to health problems. If we didn't have problems we wouldn’t be here.

oh dear, im sorry I’ve offended you - it was just a bit of light hearted banter but I seem to have said the wrong thing, again 🤷‍♀️

Mavary profile image
Mavary in reply to eleanordigby

No you didn’t offend me at all. I’m sorry if you thought you did. Blimey it would take a lot more than that. I’m not that kind of person. What I was trying to say is we chat about lots of things so if you want to chat it’s fine. We all need to be uplifted sometimes and talking to likeminded people can be helpful. Now I feel I’ve upset you and it was entirely unintentional.

eleanordigby profile image
eleanordigby in reply to Mavary

Oh dear, just ignore me, Mavary 😊 No I’m not at all upset, just relieved you’re not! I don’t know you (yet) so got wrong end of stick. I think 6 weeks of prednisone at 30mg is messing with my head! My mood is in my boots one minute and the next I’m sky high! 🤪 Also I’ve been in hospital nearly 3 weeks and so far no meaningful improvement. And I’m getting so little sleep, even though they’ve got me on zopiclone. Nearly discharged myself yesterday but I know I must be patient and they’ll get there in the end. So if I seem to be over sensitive, all I can say is, this isn’t the real me 😵‍💫x

Mavary profile image
Mavary in reply to eleanordigby

I’m a sensitive soul too. I wouldn’t like to upset anyone. But I promise you you didn’t.

I took just a course steroids a few weeks ago but they don’t do that to me. I know others have had similar problems. Well they didn’t apart from the first time I took them. It finished my bones off. I didn’t know I had Osteoporosis until after I had taken them and my spine started going. I’ve now had seven spinal fractures. I’m now on bone treatment but did enquire before taking them a second time. They said because I’m on bone treatment it would cover me.

So people do react with steroids. I didn’t sleep as well taking them but apart from that I felt much better in just a few days. I’m lucky I don’t have that reaction which is surprising because there are a few things that really upset me. One of them being Pivmicillinum. They really upset me. I tried them for a second time and I really thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. I was in agony with my tummy. I’ve now told the Dr to put it on my notes that I can’t take it. Which I believe they have. So you see everyone reacts differently with different things.

Anyway I hope you improve soon and can come home.
