Just wondering if it’s possible to get insurance when you are waiting for results of tests. Also, can you get insurance for COPD? I have tried several insurance companies who would insure but would exclude any condition that is being investigated but not diagnosed and any pre-existing health conditions. Obviously this would make it too risky to travel so pretty useless. I imagine any insurance company who would insure for COPD would make the the premiums extremely pricey 😉

Insurance for COPD? Ongoing investigation?
To the best of my knowledge, travel insurers don’t give medical cover for people undergoing tests or awaiting a diagnosis: from their perspective, they can’t quantify the likelihood of you needing to claim on medical grounds if they don’t know for sure what’s wrong with you. As you’ve found, some won’t cover you at all, others will offer insurance but won’t give you medical cover for any pre-existing condition, at which point travelling becomes a potentially very expensive game of Russian roulette. If you haven’t booked your travel yet, I’d personally wait to do so until you’ve had your results and/or diagnosis and can get insurance. You could also try an insurance broker, but I very much doubt they’d have much better luck under the circumstances. Companies will generally insure for COPD, although I believe it can be harder to get travel insurance if you use home oxygen.
Thanks for your reply Charlie_G. It makes sense of course.
I don't know about whilst still under investigation, Charlie is usually right about these things, but I have had travel insurance since being diagnosed. (COPD) It can be expensive though so it pays to shop around. We've only had to claim once; I fell over this summer in the sea in Ibiza and damaged my hands needing stiches. Bit bloody and gory.🤣
I have multiple health issues but pre Covid was able to get travel insurance from specialist company- can’t remember name but there are several companies who insure for pre-existing medical conditions. I was scrupulously honest and gave absolutely ALL medical details to ensure if I needed to claim the insurance company wouldn’t have a reason to not pay out. As suggested by Charlie_G I think you may well find it easier once you have results from tests. It still won’t be cheap but should be more viable, depending on what test results show.
Try putting travel insurance in the search bar Debs, recently there was a similar post with interesting replies on insuring copd. P
As you've already been advised you definitely won't get cover when under medical investigation. Unfortunately it is quite expensive when you need to go with a specialist company. I paid £360 for a 10 day holiday next year, the company I used was Allclear.
Hi I am awaiting a knee op and used Rush travel insurance with an Allianz policy for underlying conditions as a medical add on .I have bronchiectasis asthma and copd plus arthritis in knees. Give them a try
My Insurance was not that high. The important question asked was had I been hospitalized in the past 12months. My answer was No but when I applied previously and the answer was Yes it was much higher. I haven't been hospitalized for over 4yrs now thank goodness but I dont travel abroad thesedays as dont like the high risk of catching infection on aeroplanes in such a confined space and stale air circulating. Good Luck xxSheila 💕👍
