Even though, over the last two years,my health has deteriorated ,I am so happy that I still have music that I am able to enjoy. When my carer came on Sunday I was enjoying the Andre Rieu concert from Masestricht. I was absolutely entranced by these performances. I was shocked and surprised when she said that she didn't like music and never listened to it. Try as I might,I just can't get my head round this. I feel that she is missing a lot of pleasure in life..

So pleased that you feel the joy, comfort and pleasure of music Aingeful, it is truly wonderful. Bit of a shame some people don't feel it but perhaps they haven't had the 'awakening' yet. I remember one day driving my 3/4 year old grandson with radio 3 on, he piped up "this is beautiful music Marmar can you please turn it up" 🤗

Thinking of you dear Aingeful 😘

I love music too Aingeful and listen to all sorts. Pete is a big fan of Andre Rieu. I find music gets me through all sorts of situations in life. I wouldn’t be without it. Xxx❤️💜💙

It's strange that some people just don't like music. My father was one such person. My mother loved opera and I was into Led Zeppelin and Cream, my sister loved Cliff Richard and when we played our music my father had paddies and huffed and puffed, going out to his shed to get away from what he called din 😂😂

Some people are ‘tone deaf’ and are just unable to appreciate music and because of their condition don’t know the pleasure they are missing. Fortunately I’m not one of those but my wife was as far as classical music was concerned. She would happily sing along with pop singers, totally out of tune.

Give the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall a try, I've been a member for many years since I was unable to get to the Liverpool Phil concerts.

Yea music is very important, unfortunately I don’t have time to listen much now, because of Nebulising etc. and my hearing is bad because of PCD. I like all sorts. With late husband used to go to concerts in Symphony Hall in Birmingham, accoustics amazing, before that to Town Hall. Use to walk past Simon Rattle on way to my office some mornings. Happy Days. Like you, we’ve been to many concerts at the Birmingham Town Hall and the Symphony Hall. The acoustics are brilliant. Our son played his violin in a schools concert at the Town Hall and our daughter played her oboe in the Symphony Hall with the youth orchestra, and more recently our granddaughter sang there.

My first experience of Birmingham Town Hall was age 15 singing with choirs from other grammar schools the chorus of Handel Messiah. We were in choir stalls in front of organ, made it difficult for us to hear what we were singing! Seeing all audience and the experience was amazing, can visualise it now!! Happy days. Jean x

Simon Rattle was the principal conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker from 2002 to 2018. It was a sad day when he left. There is still an English connection, Sarah Willis plays the French horn there, a lovely lady.

Lovely to hear from you Sheila I was brought up in a house filled with .music. My Dad was a singer and in the 50'and 60's he used to go around the Clubs entertaining in what they called Concert Partys. The mini bus would pull up outside our house on Sat and Sundays and there would be other singers and groups also a band on board. Sometimes I would go in the bus or follow by car.

There was always music and singing going on in my house as they would gather to practice on weekdays. I remember one played the trumpet. He was outstanding and I can hear him playing "Oh mine Papa" brought tears to my eyes. His dad was the pianist and his brother played the trombone. There was a young boy band called the Zodiacs and other singers both Male and female.

Thsnk you Sheila for reminding me of my wonderful childhood and to this day There is always music playing in my house.

My Dad would sing "Daddy's little girl " to me and sang it on my wedding day. I am so fortunate to have had such a wonderful childhood growing up in a house filled with music. Thank you again.keep safe and well and continue to enjoy your music xxSheila 🎶🎶🎹🎸🎷🎺📻🎻💕⚘

What great memories, thank you for sharing them with us. . I grew up during war, no music then. Had little radio didn’t work very well, poor signal. After war started to learn playing piano, but after being seriously ill for three months it was decided I ought to prioritise that, took months to catch up with school lessons I’d missed. Jean x

We had a record player my Dad would play the records over and over learning the words. Also used to buy copy music. He would sing on our landing upstairs to get an echo lol , His father ,My grandfather used to play the piano in the cinema for the silent films. Never had a lesson in his life played by ear .he had a party trick, he could take a whole piano apart even all the keys and reassemble correctly. Such a gift. Never a dull moment in our house. All the neighbours would call in and have a sing song . I remember there were concerts called "Go as you Please " My Dad would enter. Once he came home and said this young boy had won and he would go places. The young boy was Tom Jones as he lived in the valleys like us . He was right ..also There were the Black and white minstrels on TV and one of the lead singers was our neighbour. That got taken off air as classed as racist which it really wasn't. I remember Him singing down on one knee "Mammy Mammy" and Dixie.

I am down memory lane now feeling nostalgic. Bet many here will remember these shows.xx to this day I have tapes of my Dad singing and play them often to my Granddaughter who unfortunately never met him. She was born on the same date he died. Uncanny .we were once told my Dad held her soul in his hands before she was born. How lovely is that. 💕🙏⚘🥰xxSheila

Watching Andre Rieu seems to pull you into the atmosphere somehow. I'm quite partial to a brass band concert as well. Happy listening.

I don’t think I’ve come across anyone who doesn’t like or listen to music. I watched an Andre Rieu concert on tv a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it though I wouldn’t normally watch/listen to something like that I even looked up the price of one of his concerts ! X
