Am afraid that with most things people are affecting by different things so very difficult to say if you would benefit from the move. For exactly some people struggle in winter months due to cold and damp whereas they thrive in hot weather. Some people say living by the sea is positive but for others it would be difficult due to sand particles in air. Or some people are really affected by tree pollen so moving to a forest area would be impossible.

If you are unsure about the move would it be possible to (if you own property) to rent for a while to see if it would be a good move. If you rent then wherever you move to could be viewed as short term if things don’t work out.

I need a climate that is not to cold in winter and not to hot in summer as I am effected by both

I'm not sure that anywhere in the UK could guarantee not to be affected by either of those at some point. Bevvy's suggestion of renting for a while is a good one if it is feasible for you to do that.

Yes, we moved to the countryside and I thought it might help but I have ended up discovering I am allergic to tree pollen and we are surrounded by birch, and grass, field opposite the house, and the soil is clay which means higher level of moulds.

I'd suggest you have a holiday in the area before you move. For me certainly live in a large town with high air pollution or near a garage (with diesel and petrol fumes) are not sensible. Many of us have different triggers and for me these days, indoor air quality is as important as outside.

My late grandparents were from the Forest of Dean , but it’s a long time since I visited .Are you allergic to tree pollen ?

I know the New Forest set my hay fever off , but that was birch and grass pollen I think .

Are you OK with hills ?

Are there health centres nearby ?

Hospitals ?

When I was thinking of moving to Norfolk , I contacted a local GP for advice.

A good idea to rent a holiday cottage maybe in the Forest for a week or two.

My asthma is really badly triggered by tree pollen so the forest would be bad for me. Like Bevvy said, it’s quite dependent what are your triggers. A sudden change in temperature effects me lots too .

Like others have suggested…could you try renting for a while first?

I lived in the Forest for a long time . It is beautiful, often damp, and full of pollen! It depends what your triggers are, I suppose, but my asthma/COPD was neither improved, nor worsened by living there. Soudley is very nice though! Currently, the wait time for an ambulance in the Forest is around 8 or 9 hours, and the nearest 'big' hospital is in Gloucester. Also, the Forest is not for everyone ... it has a very distinct culture. You'd be well advised to try before you buy.

Cheshire is a 'kind' county for the weather, certainly for farming. When I moved down here from Scotland it was like moving to another country. Oh, yes, of course, it is!

Try visiting metoffice.gov.uk/research/c... to compare the climate where you are with where you are thinking of going.
