It’s that time of year again! I only have a very small garden but in their wisdom, the previous owners planted two wisterias🙀 I spend the majority of the summer hacking them back as they try to make a take-over bid for my garden and home but at this time of year they come into their own , so I forgive them😄
Cat included for scale😹

Nice to look at but wisteria is an invasive plant. Requires a lot of time to keep it under control with regular pruning and thinning. You have a beautiful garden. 😊
Thank you cindyching😊 You’re absolutely right, the blue one particularly, is a real thug. I’ve been living here for 15 years and initially used to carefully prune the whippy growth back in summer and then prune back to two buds on each spur in winter. It used to take ages. As I’ve got older and developed more health challenges I just hack it back willy nilly and it flowers it’s socks off just the same! All that time I spent on it for nothing😂
Beautiful cat and wisteria .I bought a wisteria from a market stall about 25 years ago ….2 weedy flowers in all that time . I have tried everything….roots are huge so can’t get rid of it .
Think it must have been a cheap seedling not a graft .
Thanks madonbrew, I’ll tell her😊 One of my other cats, who I call my wild cat as she’s quite feral, loves to lie on top of the arch among the cool foliage in the summer. Not so good when she fancies giving me a swipe when I pass underneath😂
He does look cute I know ,he has a terrible underbite on the left s lower jaw which under no circumstances does it stop him eating!! Anything at all he'll try anything including all the things which aren't any good for him but very hardy health-wise as were my other dogs I list Megan at 18 cross sherpdag and my Mali few weeks ago broken coated Jack Russel at 17 miss her x
I am very sorry to hear that. Mali looked a lovely little character, too. 17 is a good age but it’s still so very hard when we lose them, isn’t it. I’m a dog person really (don’t tell my three cats that🙀) I had my first dog for 17 years, too and was devastated when he died as we’d been together through some very difficult times. I love my cats to bits of course ( not allowed dogs where I live now) but there’s something special about a dog, isn’t there. Thinking of you x
What a fabulous photo to wake up to on a Spring Sunday morning.Thank you SO much for posting -can almost reach out and feel the softness of the blossoms x
Thank you Cloudancer, it is lovely at this time of year and the blooms are scented, too, an added bonus to make up for its thuggish ways the rest of the year😀
I love the thought your blossoms are thuggist. In my mind's eye I have a vision of your wisteria donning a back mask gloves and a crowbar (or flower equivalent) gathering it's mate and saying"right who can we go and take over tonight -roots you are on expanding ,branches put on a growth spurt, blossoms make sure you fall and litter the place"...
Do you know you’re not far wrong! Often times I’ve come out a few days after chopping it back to find a tendril has already wrapped itself round my down pipe and another is trying to get its mitts in my water butt😄 Another new game it started last year was to send out tendrils close to the ground to see it it could trip me up, instead of trying to strangle me😳😂
That's beautiful. Your predecessors certainly chose good specimens, though I'm glad I don't have to do the hacking. Your cat looks a lot like my dear departed Sooty. xxx
Sooty was actually a girl. While she was living rough my neighbours, who, like me, fed her, named her Sooty thinking she was a boy. It was only when she got tame enough to let me pick her up that I discovered the truth. Neighbours persisted in calling her he until they moved. 😺😺xx
Thank you pepparuby😊 She’s one of three I adopted 10 years ago. Only intended to get one cat but then was told about a little family of three black cats they were having trouble rehoming and the rest, as they say, is history😸 Sadly I lost one of my original three to cancer last year but a stray I had been feeding and befriending for a couple of years has moved in, so I can still call myself Threecats😊
You’re right there, Pepparuby😊 They’d been in care for three months before I took them on, as apparently folk prefer other coloured cats. I can’t see why, I think black cats are beautiful- but maybe I’m biased😀 I hope you have a lovely day, too!
