Oh no Nanny. 😔 How awful for you. A cold compress and Calomine lotion will help. But try it sparingly first to . Make sure it doesn't make it worse. Antihistamine cream helps if you can get hold of some. Ring your doctor as soon as possible. xx ♥️

thankyou Caspiana,

I think that you need to stop taking it now. This seems to be a bad allergic reaction. If you can't get an answer from your GPs call 111. This us a really old fashioned antibiotic called a sulphanomide, usually given for urinary infections only occasionally for chest infections. You need an antibiotic that you won't react to.

Hi Nanny that's a bad allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Puzzled as to why trimethoprin they are used for urine infections ...

I would suggest stop taking the medication as clearly not agreeing with you call 111 and explain to them your situation..

Hope you get things sorted and feel better soon 🥰 💗

Hi Nanny. Stop the antibiotics and apply hydrocortisone 1%cream to ease the itching and calm the rash. Contact your GP as soon as you can to let him know as you will need an alternative antibiotic for your infection. If you are lucky he might prescribe you a nice big tube of hydrocortisone cream as well.

I have been given this medication for a chest infection but had no trouble with it but I know to keep out of the sun, I often have reactions to medication and can’t take a lot of them, I am surprised to hear that this drug isn’t for chest infections as it was my lung consultant who prescribed it for me. I hope that you get it sorted soon Nanny.

Poor you. I agree with other comments it looks like an allergic reaction so would stop taking them. If you have any anti histamines I would take them but will make you sleepy & apply some calming cream. If you can’t get hold of a GP call 111 & they can arrange a call from a duty GP. Trimethoprim is usually used for UTI’s so a bit random it’s being used for a chest infection. . X

Trimethoprim can cause all sorts of problems to those who are over sensitive to it. It's one of the ABs I can't risk having. Hope you manage to get a different AB prescribed today.

I had a reaction like this from Naproxen and it lasted for weeks. I used all sorts that didnt work and found that aloe vera gel helped. Speak with your gp or 111 and as everyone has said stop taking the tablets x
