Pirfenidone side effects

Anyone with experience of taking Pirfenidone have any advice on the side effects?

Hi, yes I am on it since last September, I was on Nintedanib but had too many side effects. Pirfenidone has given me very few side effects but I still have some diarrhoea and have to take Loperamide a few times a week to counter it. My only upset with it is that you have to wear sun block all the time when outside, even when it's not sunny and I love the sun. But I'd rather stay out of the sun and have fewer side effects. My lung function this year was slightly better than last year so the drug has stabilized my condition of IPF. I hope this helps you x

Thanks Suzie that’s really helpful. Glad it’s helped with the IPF. Keeping out of the sun seems a small price to pay for a better outcome x
