It is a penicillin based antibiotic. For bronchiectasis it should be given for at least 14 days. If you find that you are still having lots of mucus t the end of the course, make sure that your GP sends of a sample to find out if there are bacteria in there which require a different antibiotic. Don't forget the THE most important thing is to clear your lungs of the mucus to deprive the bacteria of the warm wet substance that they breed in.

Hi clarice91,do you do regular clearance for mucus with a device to stop germs building up in your lungs?,I have tried flucloxicillin but always use amoxicillin for my bugs . I wish you better soon

My Mum was on that for severe cellulitis and it managed to clear it up. She took a high dose for several weeks.

I know that’s a different medical issue but she didn’t have side effects and it was effective.

I hope it works for you too.

I had that all over one winter becauseI was growing staph aureus & it’s the antibiotic of choice for that. I didn’t have any problems with it.
