Although we are now one charity 'Asthma and Lung UK'.

For Health Unlocked we decided to keep this as the 'Lung Conditions Forum'

For all Asthma related enquiries/posts on Health Unlocked please join our other forum: healthunlocked.com/asthmalu...

The helpline number is 0300 222 5800 and our website is asthmaandlungsuk.org.uk.

Sorry to disagree skischool but I personally think with rebranding it is BLF 0 and Asthma UK 2.I think rebranding emphasises Asthma and I have said the same on Asthma site. This comes from someone who has COPD / asthma overlap. I feel as others have said that other lung conditions are marginalised with new branding.

Feeling quite sad 😞.

I meant it in regard to the forum still being referred to as 'The lung conditions Forum' Bevvy not the actual rebranding or amalgamation of the BLF with Asthma Uk

🙂

That is some consolation. Having COPD with asthma overlap, I have always gone to the individual site if I wanted to post something specific to one or the other. I remain unhappy with the rebranding though.

So the public face of the charity for which people raise money will be ASTHMA, with other conditions tacked on. Not good for those of us attempting to raise money and recognition for one of the other conditions as it appears from the name that funds will go mainly to asthma. BLF was a far better umbrella name. Asthma was already included and the Asthma charity could simply have been absorbed into the charity covering all lung conditions. This will put us back decades and is, frankly, insulting and badly thought out.

Very valid points well put Littlepom. I wholeheartedly agree. This is a sad day for those of us with predominantly lung disease rather than asthma.

Couldn't agree more, and I'm saying that as someone with both asthma and COPD. Just feels a bit like ' well, everyone has heard of asthma ' to me.

And as someone with mild asthma overlap I learnt on the asthma site that the asthma systems someone like me suffers is nothing like the symptoms or treatment of severe asthmatics.

Maybe they think people will consider asthma to be less an individual fault than other lung diseases, especially copd and therefore more likely to raise awareness and funding?

I think it's partly because everyone has heard of asthma, probably most people know someone with asthma. It just feels like the other lung diseases are being sidelined. How many people have heard of bronchiectasis? Even COPD you have to explain it to people.

Exactly! And I don't feel I'm to blame for having it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree that Asthma seems to take precedent. We don't all have Asthma or even a crossover!! xx

I have COPD / asthma ….a grey area to diagnose my GP said .

Lung condition and asthma , lung condition with asthma .

Lung condition asthma separate .

Hmmm ….where do I go to for advice , or maybe help others ?

Confused . How do I know which is which ?

Been on this site coming up to nine years , everyone I know is here.

Is COPD sidelined again …..together with that question I am always asked ‘ do you or did you smoke ‘ ….I wait for it every time .

Oh well.

Fighting for Breath? It's appalling, not a good look especially during present war in Europe. Breathing isn't a war, it's a necessity, we're not warriors or victims of war here, just lung patients doing our best to support each other and new members - speaking of new members, what a terrifying label they'll find when looking for help and advice!

Waste of precious resources
