Hi Busygardener. If you get a warning, such as an aura or a blind spot in your vision, that indicates a migraine is coming, take 2 pain killers and begin to slap your wrist. The idea is to transfer the inflammation from your brain to your wrist by slapping your wrist. If you are in an area where slapping would draw unwanted attention, you can repeatedly press your thumb into your wrist which will do the inflammation transfer.

When the aura or blind spot goes away then the migraine would come on with a vengeance, but it won't, because your slapping action has done its job. The 2 pain killers with numb any residue of the migraine effects.

I learned this system while browsing information at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton Alberta in Canada. I have used this system many times and it has worked every time!

Either wrist will do. If your body gives you any warning of the impending migraine, this inflammation transfer will work. The half hour between the warning and the onslaught is all that is needed to relieve the pressure of the migraine.

Tricky, we aren't medics so difficult to advise. I can only say I was treated with migraine from 1988-2007, headaches were horrendous & lasted 7-10 days. On a chance face scan (for unrelated jaw pain) my sinus cavities were found to be full of solid, er, matter. After an operation & the use of steroid nasal spray the headaches disappeared. I'm just offering that your headaches may be caused by something other than migraine especiallyas you've an infection elsewhere.

You'd best speak to your GP & soon. Good luck

Hello Busy gardener, 👋

I'm sorry to hear about your migraines. I had migraines almost everyday for a whole year after I had a transplant. They started mid afternoon and went on all through the night. If I was lucky they tapered off in the morning only to start again. No pain relief helped. The only thing that did help was either a hot or cold compress depending on the season. In winter I had a hot water bottle placed on the base of my neck. It didn't remove the pain completely, but it helped enough to get some sleep. In summer I used a cold compress. My doctor also ran an MRI to make sure there was nothing sinister going on in my brain.

I know the agony physical and mental of having constant migraines. Hopefully now that your temperature is somewhat stable things will start to improve.

Sending you best wishes for a good recovery.

Cas xx 🍀

Hi, I was born with PCD (see site on HU) and I wake with headache every day, thought everyone did! Now take amitriptline at night, helps, but sometimes not enough, later I take Midrid, usually helps. Years ago before diagnosed also took cafegot, both as tablet but when being sick as suppository. However long term use not advised, so no longer take them. Also use cold pads on brow Migracool, help but don’t like smell! Hope you can solve your migraines. Good luck, Jean

I used to suffer from debilitating migraines. They weren't hormonal, according to gp, but have become very rare since the menopause! Anyway, last time I had surgery I had an awful headache which turned out to be my blood pressure rocketing. It was quickly sorted. I just thought it might be worth checking your bp.

Since getting on blood thinners, I've only been threatened once with a migraine in 6 years. I get an aura, a warning of migraine coming, then I begin the inflammation transfer process, taking 2 pain killers and slapping my wrist. Within half an hour the migraine is gone and the pain killers remove any lingering tenderness left by the migraine.
