Mandarin duck I think π€ but anyways its the beautiful colours β€
They're amazing aren't they, look painted on π
They certainly are a beautiful sight to see π
What a beauty! I think it is a Mandarin duck Bb9. Gorgeous xxxπππ¦π¦π¦
They are colourful enough and quite well mannered when it comes to seed and dinner π
He is a stunner! Certainly brightened a grey day Thank you xx
Totally agree certainly been grey here today which I find depressing but I won't complain too much π π§‘
Good job you don't live up north. We've had mostly grey skies for months. Does nothing to lift the spirits. When I see your photos showing blue skies I think "she's getting more than her fair share" π
Well my fair share hmm I guess so ππ ....I was raised in the North the far North of Glasgow so adore blue skies and sunshine nowadays π
Eye catching to say the least. Is Mrs Mandarin as colourful? π€
Oh he's gorgeous and I love the reflection. It is definitely a mandarin. When I was a child a solitary male came to live with all the mallards on the local lake. I wondered why he never wandered off in search of a mate, but he looked very exotic in suburban North London. xxx
Is it not if their mate passes they don't ever take another one and live solitary life's...don't quote me on that but yes they are very exotic π§‘π
Swans certainly can remain single. We had one in a local park whose mate was killed. He went bananas when the parkies introduced a nice young female on to his pond and just wouldn't accept her. I don't know if ducks are so loyal, but that might explain why our mandarin remained a bachelor.
It's beautiful and the colours are gorgeous thank you for sharing. Have a good night and take care π Bernadette and Jack π xxxxxx
And you also ππ§‘
Wow, he is a beauty, than BB xxx
He certainly is there colours are just awesome π§‘π
Hi BB, seeing this photo of a Mandarin duck caught my interest. It really is a beautiful, flamboyant looking bird so I decided to do a little research. Its apparently a descendent of the original Mandarin duck which was imported to the UK from Asia in the 1920s. Like a lot of wealthy people through the ages they wanted exotic looking birds and animals to show of their wealth. Although I have never been lucky enough to see one here in Wales these birds are now quite rare in the countries of their origin. Thanks for another interesting photo.Xxx
Thankyou for all the information you researched that's lovley to know π§‘
Thatβs amazing, it really does look painted π¦
Certainly does very bright π§‘π
Hey Bb9, thanks for this beautiful photo.Mandarin ducks: the ultimate love symbol!
The Chinese name for Mandarin duck is Yuanyang, where yuan refers to the beautifully plumed male bird and yang the plainer female one. For married couples having some βtough timeβ with your life partner, keeping a pair of Mandarin Ducks will help resolve all issues.π€ͺ
Very knowledgeable on the subject thankyou for the information it's appreciated ππ§‘
What a beautiful photo Bb! Love the reflection too.
Thankyou appreciate your words π
WOW ! That is truly stunning.Mandarin Ducks are classed as very lucky in Feng Shui.xxπ¦π¦Sheila π
There is so many stories attached to them regarding luck love etc .. I googled yesterday and had some really great information ...also thankyou β€
I used to have a pair of Mandarin Ducks, had to put them face to face with the beaks touching. Said to bring romance and love. My daughter had them in her bedroom. π¦π¦ππ xxSheila
What a stunner. Theyβre very vibrant. What a lot of information it built up too. Thanks bb8. Beautiful to see xx Anita
Thankyou Anita β€
I have never seen such a beautiful duck, thank you xx
Certainly gorgeous π
What a beauty, its a joy to see and cheers up my day, thank you BB x
Thankyou β€
Oh my! What a gorgeous specimen! If we wore all those colors at one time, we'd look awful, but on this duck, they are absolutely beautiful.
I have a patchwork jacket in similar colours it's very old now but I just love wearing it πππ
You have given me an idea!Since my family seem to think I am somewhat eccentric think I shall do just that and wear clashing colours and a bright eyecatching in your face hat!
Just for the fun of it -except I don't go out often so the shock factor will be limited to the neighbours dog......
That's so funny π€£ the neighbours dog π
Oh wow that's is so so beautiful -would like to see one in real life but this is just as special!
It's my first time seeing a lone one .. normally in pairs but fear this one has lost his mate π
Yes, often the old comfy clothes are the best especially if good memories accompany them! I had a pair of sneakers with all those colors on them when I was 10yr. old. The other kids made fun of my shoes, but I adored them and was very reluctant to let them go when I'd outgrown them. Fancy feet, I guess!
Absolutely awesome memories β€
Lovely to see, thanks, plus Iβve learned lots from this thread today.
Me to lots of knowledge around π
Beautiful . When we lived on Chicksands (USAF Base) in Bedfordshire, we had one that came round every year π
πππ§‘
We have those at a park not too far from me and they are stunning. Thank you Bb. JaxπΆx
They are lots of them around but this one's by himself lost his mate poor boy π
The teal and burnt orange are lovely together, I fancy a new dress !!
Get yourself to the January sales and treat yourself β€
Good picture of Mandarin Duck thanks. When our on motorbikes coming from Peak District etc, would have rest at benches alone road at JCB Rocester looking out over the lakes with, we were told, 78 different bird species including mandarin ducks and black swans. Since my husband died, itβs nice to go there, take picnic, watch birds, water fountains. Jean xx
Thereβs also ice cream van at JCB, but no toilets! xx
