What a poor day today, wanted to go and do some Christmas shopping, just food stuff, but, it's not going to happen, just can't breathe right today at all..
Managed to get into my car, waited until I got my breath back to normal and calm, drove to my local supermarket, opened my door and got out into the car park, set off to get a trolley but after a few yards I couldn't catch my breath, sometimes I just feel like crying...
Hello mymouse sorry to hear you aren't having a good day, but please don't worry I'm sure you will manage to get your shopping done. Could you do it online or have family or friends who could help you out. I do hope you get it sorted, but mostly I hope you start to feel better soon. Thanks sassy59, this health problem takes some getting used to, not so long ago I was out doing my thing every day and suddenly I can do hardly anything, I have a niece who helps me out with shopping etc, I just don't like having to bother her if you know what I mean ..

Hi, please get in touch with your doctor or nurse, you may have a flare up which needs treating. I have had increased breathing difficulties since weekend, just been reviewed by my nurse who has advised I take my emergency pack of antibiotics. She is going to keep me under review in the lead up to Christmas. Much easier for you to get checked now before the Christmas shut down.
Hi CDPO16 and thanks for your reply to my post, today I am not quite so bad, so far anyway, sorry to hear about your own difficulty with your breathing, I hope you get back to normal as soon as you can, with regards to getting in touch with a Dr or nurse, I use a service called MYcare24, I have an oxymeter and every day via an app on my phone I submit my oxygen levels and my BPM, any problems they get in touch and they are very quick about it, they get me a Dr appointment same day if they think I need one, just had a week of doxycycline and prednisolone but I think yesterdays problem was actually caused by breathing in cooking fumes the evening before, that sounds terrible I know, I didn't burn anything just fried some chips, I have noticed the past few times I have fried chips that my breathing has been worse the next day, seems from what I read that it could be the fumes created by the cooking oil, I usually have chips every other week but I think it might well be another thing that I avoid from now on, maybe use oven chips instead...
Thank you for your kind wishes and update on your situation. I haven't heard of cooking oil being an irritant before but lung conditions seem to make us hypersensitive to all sorts of things.
I'm glad that you are a little better today and also that you have a good back up service when needed. I hope that you will be able to get the groceries you need before Christmas and as you say, maybe have oven chips in future, though not as good I know.

Do you have a local Age UK, I have found their volunteer service brilliant when very stuck, I found my local one online and then just 'phoned them. I know my Local Authority had a volunteer "hub" during the worst of the pandemic, where volunteers for things like shopping were available, but these may have closed now, food is important (or my tummy says it is.
It has been bitter cold today.i use puffers b4 go out and wear thin scarf loosely wrapped so can breathe warmed air which helps avoid breathing difficulties xx
Totally sympathise with your problem. I couldn't get a delivery slot for this week (left it too late) so trying to stock up in person. If ever I see a person in obvious trouble in a car park, I hope I will have the sense to ask if I can help. I hope you've got enough puff back to sort your shopping out. Thanks Alberta56, I am probably getting to the point where I am going to have to consider online shopping, I do have a niece who is willing to do my shopping but it is a heck of a trek for her to get to my place, interesting point about helping people who are in trouble, I always have myself but recently as I have been struggling I find that people would rather watch us struggle, whether it's due to this covid thing I don't know but wouldn't have hurt the young lady recently on the checkout to pack my bag for me, or at least offer to help, told her I was struggling to breathe which I was quite bad, she just stood with her arms folded waiting for me to move on, just something I couldn't have ever done...you take care...
Not gd is it.i had same yesterday but I won't pay till ive packed.she was same..arms crossed,waiting - I don't worry anymore x
Sorry for your experience. Perhaps the shop assistant had been instructed not to help pack. But people can be very unthinking, even without covid to help them. Does it take personal experience to make us more aware of other people's needs? Actually in our small local Co-op the staff are much kinder. No big boss breathing down their necks.

Hope you are starting to feel a bit better today, mymouse. The weather has been awful for breathing, for my friend and me. This cold damp is the worst.
