What a couple of weeks…😡

Following double lung transplant assessments they have now discovered i have coronary stenosis but cannot make a final decision until a further report is prepared and discussed with the cardiologist.

These tests are so thorough as only the fittest( ironic eh!) can be put forward.

Depending on the grade of stenosis and whether it needs stents or bypass will determine when and if i progress to the active list.

It certainly is a very thorough assessment Mr b for a transplant. Without it your heart problems may not have been found. I hope that it can be successfully treated by your cardiologist and not have a detrimental effect on the possibility of a transplant.

The new variant is a bit worrying but the scientists are already researching it as extensively as possible at this stage. You stay safe too.

I had aortic stenosis and had my valve replaced and I think that was one of the reasons I wasnt put forward for lung replacement. I hope they make the right decision for you. Take care

It’s taken me 2 years to understand the lungs after the IPF diagnosis now it’s time for a crash course in cardiology..!

I reckon i could carry out the transplant myself now..🤪🤪🤪

Yes you probably could. Funny enough my stenosis was found by an eager locum gp when she was trying to find something else. I think she saved my life, bless her. Then IPF came along, I keep thinking did I get IPF when I had the open heart surgery 😊

What was the open heart surgery like?The Americans seem to favour this over stent placements but cynically i suspect money influences a lot of American surgeons.

I was terrified going into it, but I coped afterwards quite well, but had a problem breathing and stayed in for 10 days. Care in hospital was exceptional, I felt very safe. I had 3 chest infections for the 1st 6 months after surgery and I had 3 echocardiogram to check my valve was ok. I haven't had any problems with my heart since, it's been just my lungs. Also I had a bovine valve put in and they have a life span. Cardiologist said I wouldn't need another open heart to replace it they do keyhole instead.

I had to have open heart surgery, because I had a blockage in the wrong place for a stent. I was fitter then (7 years ago), but I was out of hospital 5 days after the op., and have never had any heart trouble since. I hope you don't need surgery, but if you do I hope it goes as well as mine. Fingers crossed a stent will fix your problem.🤞🤞🤞 xxx

I had a stent fitted last year. Was referred for double lung transplant. Was turned down due to heart problems. Gutted. Hope all goes well for you.

What a dreadful irony it is that you have to be so extremely poorly to get on the tx list, yet judged well enough on the survivability front.

If there is a god, which I doubt, he/she must be ‘avin a larf at this perfect example of a catch22. Good luck to you in dealing with it all 😘
