For the last week i have been suffering with leg weakness and numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. I had a flu type virus a month ago and doctors think it could be related to that attacking my nerves and muscles. I am seeing a neurologist this coming week. It is baffling and i’ve never had anything like it before. Doctors have ruled out a stroke.
Has anyone else ever had anything like this? It is debilitating as normally i am active in spite of having copd.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t know what the virus was ( definitely not covid). I had flu like symptoms and a nasty cough. Before that, about a month ago i had a flare up of copd and was on clarithromycin and prednisolone. I just hope the neurologist can sort this for me, it is so debilitating.🥺I hope you are keeping well Caspiana.
Have you been checked for shingles? My colleague had something like your symptoms and it turned aut to be shingles. The rash doesn’t always manifest itself on the outside apparently, you can have it inside, which can affect the nerves. I hope you get some answers soon 🐑
I hadnt even thought of that . I will mention to the consultant when i go on wednesday. Would that cause back pain and weak legs and hands, and tingly hands?
I don’t know. In the case of my colleague, she had shingles around her bladder and stomach which caused the tingling and weakness in her legs, aching legs and back, and a sort of numbness / tingling in her hands. I guess the specific location of the shingles would affect different parts of the body differently. It may not be shingles in your case, I’m certainly no expert!! But your description immediately made me think of how shingles affected my colleague.
I have hand pins and needles in my legs and hands since i had covid in March 2020 . It is due to neuropathy and Ive been prescribed gabapentin which helps a little . On the fb Long Covid group there are thousands of people that have this as one of their symptoms . Im also having a lip biopsy as my neurologist thinks i have sjurgrens syndrome . Im afraid there is no real remedy for this .
Thank you for your reply. I’ve not had covid. Had 2 negative pcr tests in the last month when i had flu cold and cough. I have heard of neuropathy. I’m hoping the neurologist has some answers and can help me.
I have experienced those symptoms many years ago ,after having blood tests it was found i was b12 deficient also d3 ,hope they get to the bottom of it for you ,keep safe , Alice

Unfortunately no. I am still suffering with this numbness and wobbly legs. I am seeing a neurologist tomorrow so hopefully he will have some answers and help me . Thank you for your message.
Hi Collie. Really sorry you are suffering these symptoms which are causing your disability. I do hope the neurologist will diagnose the problem and effective treatment. Good luck and best wishes xxx
Thank you. No it isn’t much fun. I’m used to being fairly active, and independent. It’s very debilitating having something like this. I’m hoping the neurologist has a magic cure.! But i doubt it.
Fortunately it got better after a few weeks, though i still get tingling feet sometimes. My neurologist thought it could have happened after a virus i had and an exacerbation when i had to take antibiotics. I didn’t have a scan in the end.I hope yours isn’t too bad . Neurologists are very good, so i hope they can help you.
