Hi all..any advice for me please. I had phneomonia in July. I've been back to the doctors every week because still get pains in My left side. Also I can feel like a crackling. Every time I've been the doctors they can never here anything, or it's not happening. My x-ray was clear from hospital.

But my doctior is sending me for another one. Any ideas what could b wrong as it gets me really down.

Maybe you could have had pleurisy also? The X-ray is a good idea I think it will clear up if there's any infection left over.

Does it hurt when you breathe in or out at all? Pneumonia does take a LONG time to clear up completely, it wa about 6 months all in all for me till I felt totally better again, and I was only 36 when I had it.

I'd wait till the X-ray comes back then talk to the GP about. Also wen you have a bad lung infection it does leave you inflamed for some time after.

Yes it does hurt only sometimes when i take deep breaths but when it does hurt it's that bad it brings me to tears. I'm also sick now and again when the pain comes and i also don't go to the toilet regular.

There is sort of a long list of what could be your ongoing problem. As of now I’ve not heard of a doctor visiting this site but most of us can attest to the fact that if you’ve ever been a smoker then what you’re going through is basically par for the course. It could be anything from asthma to Emphysema to 100 things in between. From my own issues I know when I hear crackling it usually means an infection has made a home in my respiratory system somewhere. Due to the beautiful place I live sinus issues are very common even amongst our healthiest community members but a sinus cold gone too far can nest a n attractive home for infection to set in. In the meantime until your healthcare professional figures it out try not to let it consume you grief and worry. Try to drink plenty of water and take care of yourself, best of luck to you

3 years ago coming up yo Xmas I came down with what I thought to be a nasty virus. 3 Doctors in 6 days came to my house ( I was too ill to leave) and found nothing wrong but organised an X Ray which at great effort I got to have taken locally. By the end of the week I had been admitted to Hospital with viral pneumonia and respiratory failure which took me to ICU for 19 days and a month in Hospital. Listen to your body and ask yourself how you feel regardless of what you are being told. During that time I simply knew I was seriously ill and of course I almost died. The body was telling me this.

Hi hallentine47 did you ever get your full health back

Hi Dilly2 no sadly I have never fully recovered from that episode and since have battled with Haemophilus influenza and Pseudomonas although I did enjoy a few months of feeling well during that initial year after leaving Hospital. The last couple of years have seen a slow deterioration despite doing everything advised including PR and eating well and resting and washing hands frequently . I am 72 and my GP seems to think the only answer left is that I am getting older!

Perhaps you could ask your GP to arrange a CT scan which would provide a much more detailed and accurate view of your lungs. I had pneumonia in May and have had 2 CT scans to get a clearer picture.
