Bronchiestasis sufferer now diagnosed psoriatic rheumatoid arthritis
My wife as PSA but without the lung condition. It is a very complex condition with numerous treatment possibilities. To be honest I would seek a forum that deals with psoriatic arthritis for advice.
Hi. Im 44 now and have psoriatic arthritis for the last 4 years. It can become quite disabling so the sooner you see a rheumatologist the better. Last year i was told i have emphysema and had only 54% lung fuction left. Not alot for a 44 year old. There are countless medications for psa. I was on methotrexate which was brilliant but unfortunately was taken off it as tou cant have it with any existing lung problems. Steriod injections done at the gp office are a great help while waiting on a rheumatologist. I am waiting now to start biologic treatment, which is an injection i give myself once a week. Hope the wait wont be too long as ive been just over a year and z half with no medication and i have a 9 year old who needs looking after lol. Hope everything works out for you x
Hi Mickymoo, many thanks for taking time to reply.I am sorry you are also struggling.
I have an appointment to see rheumatologist consultant on 5 th January.
Will let you know how it goes.
Please take care it can’t be easy for you. 🤗
Thats great you got an appointment so quickly to see a rheumatologist. The waiting list in northern Ireland is 2 years! That was before covid held everything back lol. Nice hot baths are great for arthritis and lots of stretching (if your able). Wish you well x
I have bronchiectasis, rheumatoid arthritis and take methotrexate. I wonder why they told you that you cant have this drug with any lung disease? I would be interested to know in case this is causing damage to my lungs x
I have just had an appointment with a respiratory doctor who suspects I have bronchiectasis although not yet had the tests and he said that patients with rheumatoid arthritis quite often develop bronchiectasis and asked me if I have ever been on methotrexate. When I told him I had but not anymore because I couldn't tolerate it, he said that was good because if I was still on it he wouldn't want me to continue with it as it can exacerbate bronchiectasis. Might be worth asking your respiratory doctor about it Izb1.
If we can help you at all with managing your bronchiectasis there are quite a few of us on this forum who are old hands at it and will be happy to support you.
Hi Littlepom, many thanks for taking time to reply. At moment my Bronchiestasis is under control, I started on Azithromycin 3 times a week at beginning of October in the hopes it will prevent me having continual exacerbations 🤞🤞
Now having also been diagnosed with PRArthritis, the hardest thing I find at moment is dealing with constant fatigue, I know there are lots of people far worse off than me, but having no energy and being in pain really gets me down, and Somerset I think what is the point.
Take care.🤗
It's good to hear that your bronch is under control. One debilitating condition is difficult enough to live with but two must be very hard. I hope that they come up with something that makes the arthritis more bearable.
Thank you Littlepom, I just think people do not realise sometimes just how debilitating it can be.Take care 🤗
There are indeed lots of people worse off than you, but that does not mean you do not deserve the best and speedy treatment for your own conditions. Good luck in getting it. xxx
That's it isn't it lots of others being supposedly worse off than yourself doesn't mean that your problems are unimportant and trivial and don't deserve to be taken seriously.
Point is saying to others about the supposedly worse off doesn't help them or solve their problems does it?
A person I know has this condition and was so much better when he went onto biologics, it was like a new lease of life for him x
