Is it a bit like being number 3 in a queue on the phone. I always seem to be number 3, yet wait varying lengths of time. Maybe it’s a random number close enough to give hope, but far enough that you realise you’re going to have to wait. And you never become number 2. It’s straight from number 3 to getting through to someone. 🤯

We needed to call BT once and rang their help line at about 7.30 pm. By 8.20 pm I was seriously p'd off as I kept being told how important my call was and that an agent would be with me as soon as possible. While continuing to wait, I checked the web site again, only to find that their office closed at 8.00 pm. I don't know how come my call didn't get shut down, but I wonder, if I hadn't checked, if I could have waited on the phone until they all came back in in the morning.

It gets on my nerves too. Then suddenly a voice pipes up saying good morning how may I help you. Have you ever been cut off while waiting thats even more infuriating?, and you then have to start again.

I think hold music should be entertaining and they should not keep reminding you that you are on hold. In the US I spend hours on the phone with medical billing offices. They always overcharge and you always have to fight with them.
