Thank you all for your replies yes I know its dangerous to use oxygen without consultant with my gp. The ambulance crew said my oxygen level was low 81 and only when taken off oxygen dropped again and the hospital said the same. I think they don't want to have here my morther in law still smoking plus we have gas don't know why I was asked something blowing us up !.

So now is left some doctors are saying it will help others it's to late , I do take my oxygen level if it's good I not use it but when it's down I will.

Cheers all Rob.

I agree 1000%. At the times I am at 81 sats I use my concentrator to achieve my more normal 91. See no reason not to.

I suggest that you discuss this with your palliative care team rather than use any oxygen supplement without a proper assessment. Everyone needs a personal assessment of need to ensure that any treatment is appropriate.

I've not seen your other post but if you are referred to the hospital for an arterial blood gas test and that shows you are in need of oxygen, then your organs could be compromised if you do not have it.

Sure you must stay away from smokers and cooking with gas whilst you are using oxygen as this could result in an explosion that could seriously threaten life to you and others in the vicinity.

Check out Oxygen information / Safety on this page:

Take good care of your lungs.

Best wishes BK

As I said before you really should talk this over with your gp or respiratory team. I have gas and when first given oxygen a son who smoked. Maybe you are a retainer. There must be a reason. Have you actually had arterial blood tests done? Although it is scary when your oxygen drops what is important is how quickly it goes back up. Please discuss it with yourResp team. Take good care. x
