Oxygen service

fidgetandscooter profile image

I've got someone coming to service my oxygen thingy on Tuesday. I am going to ask them about a bit of liquid oxygen for when walking the dog. I hope I will have more success than I did with the nurse.

I don't how many of you remember the Walker Brothers. I did this picture of Scott in oils when I was about 15. I never use black paint now, or even black pencils. It's got a bit scratched over the years.

I hope you all haven't got blown away with all this wind.

I hope all goes well for you on Tuesday.

Oh the painting of Scott is brilliant! I loved the Walker brothers, especially Scott and had a poster on my wall of them. Very sad to learn that Scott recently passed away.

Wind subsiding now and it’s not been too bad. Take care xxxxx

Hi

If in the U.K., it’s the oxygen team who give the authorisation for a change of equipment. If you can cope there is little difference between a cylinder with conserver and liquid oxygen, liquid oxygen require a suitable place for the Dewar and you having the ability to refill the flask, weight wise the vary from 2.2kg to 3.7kg which have to be carried or use a shoulder strap.

If you’re struggling with the standard cylinder ask about the smaller paediatric size.

Talented artist lovely picture.

You are so talented😀😀

Great picture. So talented.

A great pic and just like him. I loved the Walker Brothers and especially Scott. Then in 1968 I went to see him in Wolverhampton at a nightclub. Saved for months to pay for the ticket. He arrived two hours late, stoned out of his mind, sang two songs and walked off. End of Scott Walker for me.

I think you will need a prescription to change oxygen delivery method ie pulse to flow ..

Let us know you get on though.

You should ask your Oxygen Nurse to change your prescription so you can go onto Liquid Oxygen it’s far better and lighter if the Nurse don’t help go to your GP .

I loved the Walker Brothers then my present husband introduced me to Scott's CD where he sang the songs of Jacque Brell (not sure if that's the right spelling) he was French I think. They were so different to his previous songs and I loved still love listening to it.

I am sure it's your consultant who has to change your prescription. The oxygen people just deliver what is prescribed. My husband's respiratory nurse recently suggested a portable oxygen concentrator but had to have it authorised by a consultant.

In the Uk, it's your respiratory team (nurse) that decide what your oxygen prescription should be. They will inform the company who deliver your oxygen what equipment to provide and at what flow rate is suitable for your usage. For liquid oxygen you need an area for safe storage for the dewar (large container) which you then use to fill up the portable cannister for going out. It's far lighter than the other portable oxygen bottles but does get extremely cold when in use.
