Hi Ragrug, I am so sorry that you have Lung Cancer, not being able to be treated with Chemo is a big blow. Has she mentioned Radiotherapy as an option?
Ascites, another horrible condition, it would seem cutting out your Sodium (common salt) intake ( you can use Potassium chloride instead) and alcohol is the way forward, also avoid taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen and aspirin if you can.
Hi Ragrug, sorry I cant advise you but hope that you can find a treatment to help with your lung cancer, maybe as 2grays suggest radiotherapy maybe an option. Sending hugs x
Has the consultant traced the cause of the ascites? There are a number of medical conditions which give rise to it. My late husband Bob suffered from severe abdominal swelling when he ate processed foods containing cows milk and bleached white flour. His stomach would start swelling up within 20 minutes of eating the wrong food, and put on up to 16 inches. It took up to 2 weeks of an elimination diet for it to go down again.
That's interesting that Bob was not the only one. It can be very difficult to avoid them. We found out when we went to Rhodes in the late 1980s, where the flour was unbleached and the milk was from sheep and goats. He was transformed over the two weeks and came back having lost a quarter of his weight in water. Which is why I then trained as a dietitian.
I found out when I was pregnant as I increased cereal and milk. I went gluten free and had goats and soya milk for some time. Now I can eat 1 slice of whole meal bread per day and use lacto free milk.
It always is isn’t it. I am supposed to eat healthily but struggle to eat at all, so I have fortisip nutrition drinks which with the oramorph send my glucose levels up, and I have T2 diabetes. Life’s a balancing act and boring.
@thank you everyone for your kind comments and thoughts.I am on fluroseamide 3 tabs and it is withdrawing liquid and I go for and ecograph next week so my people seem to be on top of it.I have had radio therapy and it worked for awhile...can't do any more as my lungs are too destroyed. Thank you again for your lovely wordsRagrug.
