I have had a normal echocardiogram and holter monitor but my heart still races for no reason some times and it worries me. Does anyone know if my echo was normal can I still have heart issues they aren’t catching? The doctors keep saying I’m fine but I don’t feel fine and it’s scary

Heart concerns
Hello David,
I have the same issue, namely palpatations with no valid explanation. All my tests show no issue with my heart. More worryingly my Brain Natriuretic Peptide test comes back high. It really started after lung transplant and my surgeon put it down to a side effect of Prograf. Barring that I am tempted to think due to hormone imbalance which escalated after transplant I have been experiencing these weird palpatations. Maybe you could get a test to see if your hormones are in good balance. Even my BPM is completely normal. Low estrogen (in women) is also known to cause cardiac issues. Excess thyroid hormone can also cause the heart to heart harder. It's really frustrating at times.
Take care,

When you say races could you give a little more detail? Have you taken your pulse when this happens and if so what is it and what we’re you doing?
Anxiety can cause palpitations
Well it’s strange because all the blood tests and ecgs and echo came back and continue to come back normal and still Im having problems with my heart. Sometimes it’s debilitating like I’m having to leave work and stuff and it’s starting to effect my everyday life. It’s scary because it’s the heart and the fact that they can’t find something is worrisome. Do you think this could harm me badly?
You can have atrial fibrillation and still have a normal echo. The symptoms are erratic and racing hr (over 100 bpm.) Most forms of AF are controllable with beta blockers. A 24hr monitor isn’t enough, you need a 7day one
