So I was diagnosed with copd at the beginning of June 2021 and although I'm still trying to absorb it all I had a thought I need to do things whilst I still can! After some research I found this challenge and feel really excited and motivated to do it. My Brother and my Dad will both be running with me (they're both runners) gaining extra sponsorship and to give me the support I'll need.
I have entered via The big fun run and have asked to run for BLF charity, although I'm feeling extremely impatient waiting to find out if I'll be accepted to run for them, they have until 28th July to make a decision π€
I'm aiming to raise at least Β£500 for the charity (plus my Brother's & Dad's sponsor money) not only is this allowing me to improve my lung health/motivation/mental health it's also raising awareness which can only be a good thing.
Just wanted to share with you all as I'm feeling proud and determined not to let the diagnosis get on top of me πͺ I was full of doom and gloom before this on Saturday night, but now I've started walking to get strength to complete this challenge π

Thank you. Yes at first it was just my brother, but my 76 year old Dad asked me why I'd not asked him! Bless him, fantastic to have the support I feel I'm going to need!
Good for you! Wishing you all the best in your training. Iβve started walking more too, I feel like Iβm doing something positive to combat my diagnosis. It can only help, Iβm sure. Let us know how you go on. Fingers crossed for you. Best Wishes x
Thank you, I know already some day's I'm not going to feel like going out there to walk or try and jog but when I think of the little help I may be able to give that's my motivation πWell done for getting out there yourself.
Well done, good to get in training now. Wishing you all the very best.
Thatβs amazing, and your dad is awesome too π What a great thing to do. Sending you all lots of good wishes. πββοΈ πββοΈ πββοΈ
Thank you π I know I wrote that my brother and dad both run, my dad hasn't run for around 3 years so he's going to need to blow off the dust from his trainers and start training with me, bless him, I was very touched when he wanted to do it also π₯°
