Tumour in Lung.

Sometime in October 2019 I had a chest xray and was told by my Doctor there was a Tumour ( Cancer ) in my right lung. I was also told that it was first noticed 2 Years earlier in 2017. I was immediately sent to hospital to see a lung Consultant who operated within days but the operation was not successful and will be going in August for more scans. I have been told by several people that I should make a claim for compensation for Not being told about the Tumour in 2017 when it was first noticed. Would welcome any comments as I would Not feel well about this as the NHS has done a fabulous job during the Covid Crisis.

Am sorry but I agree that you should be complaining about not being informed 2017. This is dreadful and is nothing to do with Covid crisis. They need to be brought in to account. Who else has this happened too and also in future who could this affect..... is not about blame. Is about ensuring records are checked in case someone else is in your situation and to ensure doesn’t happen again.Wish you well

Thank You Bevvy for your kind comments and I am going to consider a claim as I should have been told earlier. The Doctors and Nurses have been very good hence me feeling the way I do. However You are right I will let everyone know how I get on. Kind regards. Ron.

Regardless of the good they do, they also screw up and not telling you about a tumour for 2 years, is a mega screw up that is likely to influence the outcome. You should absolutely try for compensation 💕

I'm very sorry for the situation you find yourself in. I think that you should make a formal complaint and a claim for compensation . As Bevvy said, this is a completely different issue to covid which should not be part of your consideration and has no bearing what was found in 2017. The BLF helpline may be able to offer you advice too.

Hi sorry for your news but please don't feel bad about complaining. My mum died through mistakes being made and a claim was made not so much about the money but so it didn't happen to other people and it did. So good can happen sometimes out of something bad. Good luck for the future.

So sorry that you have to face this-what a shock for you.

I too have been struggling with a what to do with no clear way forward to date.

Consultants have been monitoring my right lung for past year with CT scans etc on a 16mm ‘nodule’ not sure why they dont get on with things like a biopsy-but the policy is to wait & see. But for what??? Until we get lung cancer?

May i ask if you remember having xray or scan in 2017 if so did you have to see gp for results. Do you know what the xray was for, I only ask because in my area if we have a scan we get a copy of the findings, I guess the only way to find out is to ask questions. Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this too and understand the dilemma re the NHS. They do have massive insurance in place so you wouldn't be taking anything from the actual NHS. On the other hand you could be giving them a leg up in to changing their ways so neglecting patients in this way cannot happen again. Perhaps it would be an idea to contact PALS? We all have a right now to view our medical records, in many gp practices you can access them on line and print off what you need. Wishing the very very best with your treatment rontib.

So sorry that you have experienced this.Please do what you feel is the right thing for you.There are times when ones needs to stand up and fight your corner.

It's your body -the days of lay people being kept in the dark about investigations and diagnosis are long gone.
