Hi I have recently been prescribed Fostair inhaler and I can't seem to find any info on if you should give it a shake before use. Any ideas?

No I was told to not shake and to keep it upright.

Thanks. It doesn't say to shake but old habits etc.

Know what you mean. When you are used to shaking inhalers it becomes habit. Old habits die hard.

Oh. I always shake mine. How do you keep it upright when you use it?

Sorry I ment when not in use. I just lean it up against a book or something. Are you supposed to shake it. Local boots told me not to shake? As the advert says am now confused. Com.

If it is a MDI inhaler, I believe that it should be shaken before use.

Some inhalers need a shake some do not but as my consultant said no inhaler will have its contents damaged so as it only takes seconds to shake then shake

Mine's a pressurised inhaler like Venrolin.

Yes . I shake my fostair inhaler, I also take Incruse , which tells you NOT to shake . I think if its pressurised, it needs a shake.. 🤗

So the pressurised ones need a shake and the powder ones dont? I use Symbicort (powder) and have never shaken it. Never knew not to, just some kind of instinct I guess!

Yes, pressurised inhalers need shaking prior to use but powder inhalers don't.

I just changed from symbicourt. Powder doesn't need shaking I think.

I shake my Fostair as with all MDI - the spray ones - contain propellants, I'm sure I was told at PR to shake because the propellant sinks to the bottom.

I'd better read the booklet when I get home in a few days.

I usually give it a shake but I've found a video on how to use it & there's no mention of shaking or storing upright. chiesirespiratory.co.uk/pat...
