Hi final update of saga and final humiliation. After much discussion with consultant then pharmacist was given go ahead to go home. I asked if l should organise transport because of my need for oxygen was told no they would do it as they wanted me to go via ambulance. Fast forward to 5pm nurse asked me if l could get my oxygen brought to me as no transport had been arranged as message had not been passed on . I explained that my machine at home would need recharging then someone would have to bring it out to me then l would have to try to find a taxi who would take me and machine difficult as l can't wear a mask so a lot of taxis wont take you. They then said l was welcome to a bed for the night ! For all the time l have managed this condition it has never got the better of me now l couldn't even get myself home . Where l have nothing but praise for the nursing staff others on a much higher pay grade have left a lot to be desired. I felt totally useless and vulnerable wondering if all the hard work was worth while . This was the final humiliation .

Final update
Oh that is awful! I am so sorry you have been treated like this. I hope once you do manage to get home, you will feel tons better and at least you will be in your own surroundings. Best wishes xx
This must have been very stressful. Often they don't pass on the most important information, they want to be helpful but fail on so many counts. I totally understand you, but don't feel humiliated. I believe they feel more humiliated on what has happened to you, that they didn't provide the oxygen, I would have spied fire!
But I hope that you now finally home sweet home? You take are and blessings ☺️
What an awful experience for you. Does your hospital not organise patient transport? I hope you'll be home soon.
Hope you’re home today. Cx
Oh God. You must need the patience of Job. They keep heaping indignities ( or worse) on you. I do hope you're home by now and can take charge of your own care. xxx
Hang in there. Your nearly home it never ceases to amaze me the lack of communication in hospitals between different professionals and no one is ever accountable for the mess ups they make. All I ever hear lately is discontent on the wards. Keep safe you will be home soon.
None of this is your fault, dont feel bad.
Oh so sorry to hear about what happened to you. Hope that you are by now back home. I once had a hold up being discharged from hospital because the pharmacy had issued my discharge medication but it couldn't be found as there had been a change of shift staff and the new shift staff didn't know where it was. I must admit the thought of another night in hospital because of this did make me quite angry. It was eventually found some several hours later so understand your frustrations. Best wishes to you.
Oh love I know what your feeling with planned discharge. I had to wait till 7pm for pharmacy to dispense even though I'd spoken to ward pharmacist in the morning to say discharge had got go-ahead. Feel the hours slipping by .....Come 6pm & Registrar appears & draws curtains .....
"Sorry to have to tell you Covid positive" but can still go home but be really careful & come back straightaway O2 sats drop. Cue crying as this is the last flaming straw !
Ring my friend as no way taxi an option now. Explains the situation and her husband will come.
Finally get meds ( only find out when get home that one of the painkiller is wrong instead of 28 day supply dispensed they have only given me 28 tablets instead and I take 8 a day and it's a Friday 😔)
So disconsolately say Goodbye & no won't late another half hr for porter's help to main entrance put my bags on a wheelchair out to. thr exit in the pouring rain in slippers & full PPE to my dear friend husband in the car. 10 mins journey & all i remember is saying thanj you repeatedly to him & the joy of heated rear seats.
Do hope you are more settled now
With best wishes from a fellow hospital survivor
Hattie x
Dreadful! I've liked your post but we shouldn't really! Let's just say I've read, acknowledged and hope to God it never happens to me! I would have been a wreck!
Aa a nurse who actually used to work on a ward like that it's all very different when it happens to you !Thinkng back it was all so surreal that evening and it's a good thing retained a sense of humour during my stay from confused ladies getting into bed with bed to the battle getting a cup of coffee ... although I had reanal complaint and well as Bronchiectassis thy did not allow coffee on the Kidney Unit 😕
Let's face it, the hospitals and wards have been terribly understaffed for so long now before this pandemic ever started so it's not going to get better for a long time yet! The Indians deserve medals, not so sure about the chiefs!!
What a fiasco!! Don't know why they couldn't just lend you one of the smaller canisters just to get home. Hope all gets sorted and you're home soon.
Have not seen your previous saga comments but hopefully you’ve put in an official complaint. It’s the only way these things can be dealt with as with any job complacency can creep in, though l suspect at current levels workload is the main culprit.
It saddens me to hear of the incompetency by people who dont seem to take responsibility for their actions, which cause so much distress to people such as yourself. I replied to Annie31 saying I could write a book of the failures from the hospitals my mum faced long before covid. I can only hope you are home now and comfortable x
So sorry to hear this..sometimes just praying gives you the extra strength you need to get through💖
That is terrible to leave you sitting there waiting for transport to be told nobody had arranged it. You will be home tomorrow and so glad to be in your own surroundings. Best wishes xx
Oh, how awful. Hope you're safely back home now with this rotten experience behind you.
Oh dear. I hope being home let’s you relax and rest.
