unsure of important points.

I have COPD and Bronchiectasis of the lungs and lung thickening, ild. I also have moderate - severe Rheumatoid Arthritis,is it safe to get Covid vaccine considering RA is an inflammatory problem and so are the lungs an inflammatory problem,my question is is the Covid vaccine dangerous for me having autoimmune problems.

As I far as I know the vaccine is safe for all of us. Some illnesses stop the effectiveness of the vaccine, but the doctors will tell you to probably take it.

Today I had a letter with booklet from the NHS which I guess everyone else has received or will do soon, about the vaccine. There’s a page titled “Are there any reasons why I should not get the vaccine” and it doesn’t mention autoimmune conditions. The only reasons it states are, if you’re allergic to the ingredients, or pregnant. It says if you feel unwell or have a minor illness you should still go for the vaccine unless you’re very unwell or if you’re sick with the virus. It doesn’t actually mention any pre existing conditions as a reason to not have the vaccine. Hopefully that means whatever our health conditions we’re all still ok to get the vaccine 🤞

This should be discussed with your doctor or consultant who can advise you further.

Some more info here: Scroll down to "Are you at increased risk from COVID-19 infection?"

The vaccinator will go through a list of questions with you pre vaccination and will monitor you for 15 minutes to check any reactions afterwards. Hope this helps.

I have an autoimmune disease as well as Bronchiectasis and a non existent immune system due to medication. I have been advised to have the vaccine by my consultants and that COVID was a bigger risk to me than the vaccine. but if you are concerned you should perhaps ask yours.

I heard this on the BBC tonight " I think the only group that one would cautious about using the Oxford virus for are people who's immunity is suppressed or compromised because it is a live virus. Although not a human virus it is a live virus
