This is a very important development for all of the 3rd world countries, it can be transported and stored at refrigeration temps, that is a whole lot easier than the -70 °C needed for the mRNA vaccine, it is also being distributed at cost price without profit, unlike the mRNA ones.

Third world countries' death rate is way less than the developed nations. Developed countries need the vaccine desperately than Third world countries.

Hmmm.???? What a totally different parallel world you must live in.

Worry not, President Trump will be sure of making "America First"?

In this world, things are not quite the same as in yours though.

A whopping 25 years difference!

India’s total COVID-19 deaths surpass 9 million.

vs USA, 249,263 deaths

Something very wrong with your maths.

it is India's total number of cases, not deaths.

India's total number of death 134K

World total death 1.39M

if Try to learn you will not make biased assessment

Yes, an error in reporting with that headline. You do the research this time, find the total of number deaths in the underdeveloped world, then say they did not deserve to live. How many children has it made orphans. How long before the real death rate is known? India is not far behind the US in the number of cases and their healthcare is way below the US standard as is the true recording of deaths associated to Covid-19.

How much profit were Moderna and Pfizer projected to make in worldwide sales of their mRNA vaccines before AstraZeneca announced their vaccine and how much now.

AstraZeneca vaccine being able to be refrigerated instead of super deep frozen has a clear advantage in the third world let alone sold at cost. Is that what you don't like and the fact that it is not an American company making a profit from others misery.

The death rate per capita is very high in the UK, but I do not see the UK members on here with your attitude. I can only surmise that you are 'taking the rise' purely to get a reaction. So I will now end this conversation, it is on the verge of being obscene.

Don't try to take pedestal by assuming moral high ground.

Underreporting is common both in no of cases and death, thus gives the fatality rate as a better measure. the fatality rate in Europe is above 3, US it is 2.1 and India 1.4

knowing the priority is essential. For the same effort, you are going to save more lives in developed countries than in third world countries.

All the people who developed the vaccine already benefited from their insider trading

I agree. Every single person on this planet has the same moral right to a vaccine as every other but I would contend that people who have less access to preventative measures and poorer health care systems should be provided with vaccines before the young and healthy in richer countries. It is grotesque for this even to be a debate. We are in this together as a species.

Do you say that as a resident of the third world...or may be a resident of a "developed " country....what would be your perspective if on the other side of the fence...?

By accidents of birth we find ourselves in various situations not of our making or choosing....i would like to think that all human beings were treated equally as are deserving and special for ...so many reasons...not just dangerous opinions

The question is not about those who have and those who have not. I will rephrase the question in a better way?

The chance of children dying from COVID-19 is 1/100th of old people. On the other hand, saving children save 50 years of life but with old age it's hardly 10 years. Who are you going to vaccinate first?

I think you have answered the question by highlighting those who had the greater risk of serious consequence and then work down wards to least risk...

Countries also have different risks, Europe fatality rate >3, US 2.1 and India 1.4

This is what I meant to highlight.
