I think I've got pleurisy again. The pain in my ribs is quite something!
Do people become susceptible to this after they've had it once?
I have pulmonary fibrosis (caused by radiotherapy in 1990 for Hodgkin's disease), a paralysed right hemi-diaphragm and asthma. I also have multiple other chronic conditions.
Should I expect pleurisy to be a recurrent visitor from now on?
Sadly some people do get numerous episodes of pleurisy. I am one of them. I seem to follow a pattern of having two or three episodes and then none for a while. Of course there are other reasons for your symptoms such as costocondritis which for my sins I also suffer from. The best advice I can give is speak to your GP so that a definitive diagnosis can be given.
Thank you Badbessie. I'm still waiting for a call back from my GP after days waiting. Hopefully I'll get to speak to a doctor today and get antibiotics, but I'm not holding my breath! 🥴
