More coronavirus-vaccine volunteers needed.

More than 100,000 people have signed up to take part in future NHS trials of a coronavirus vaccine - but more volunteers are needed, researchers say.

They want as many people as possible to enrol, to speed up their efforts to find a safe and effective jab.

And they are particularly looking for more volunteers from the "high-priority groups" disproportionately affected by the virus - those belonging to ethnic minorities or aged over 65.

I would sign up, but there is no point as we are still limiting our contact with others. I hope lots do though. However, I expect a lot of people will be suspicious of it.

I put RM? RT? News channel on yesterday (by mistake) and they were discussing the Russian Vaccine. The results of their trials will be published soon. They reckon it is very effective and should offer protection for 3 years.

They reckon they were able to do it so quickly because of the research they did working on a SARS vaccine. It is possible I suppose.

They have gone into mass production and are already using it on their own population.

Even if the trial results look genuine, I bet we don’t buy any!

Under normal circumstances I would have signed up. At this time though, I am not prepared to risk getting any more false positive tests potentially putting my life at risk with delaying any cancer treatment.

I have signed up.

They are looking for lots of different people to take part in their studies to make sure it works for everyone.

It is voluntary but we need to have enough representation in our group. We are people with existing condition or a suppressed immune system and may respond differently to a vaccine. It is important in their studies that the vaccine is safe to be used for people like us. I weighed everything up and decided to sign up but don’t be pressured if you really feel uncomfortable.

I have signed up for this but you have to wait and see if you are needed and fit the criteria they have. Like, ski's I am mostly in contact with delivery drivers. However my son lives at home and cannot work from home so some outside contact there.

Not what you're looking for?
