Hello all

I suffer from a number of ailments that affect my breathing. I don't use oxygen and am fairly mobile (e.g. walk 200m), but the stairs can be tricky (no more than that) at times. I'm thinking of a holiday on the Gower Coast in Wales. I drive.

Could I get to a beach (if I choose the one day in the year when it's not raining there)?

Many thanks in advance!

I have asked my sister who used to live on the Gower. She says Oxwych, Caswell and Port Eynon beaches ans to look for them on google maps. I hope that helps.

Hi, I have been to the Gower many times, I have a photo on my wall of my late parents and I there.

One of our members lives near too, so hopefully they can help.

But type in accessible beaches on the Gower on google and a list will come up. Loads of ideas there. Trip Advisor etc

You could also contact the Welsh Tourist Board , they would help.

I hope you manage a holiday there, enjoy.

Hello Videodragons, the Gower is a lovely interesting coast line, with many attractions besides the beach. I would try the accessible beaches list as suggested. The three mentioned as I recall are quite steep to & from the carparks unless times have changed . Some beaches in South Wales including the Gower can be driven onto for a small parking fee. If you go have a lovely time I have fond memories as my sisters husband originates from the gower he was brought up on a farm and went to school there . Up until around five years ago the village school was still there. Enjoy.

I would reccommend any of the beaches in the area mentioned but my favourite is Rhosilli. But you can call at all of them for a short visit by car in one day . The road runs right round from Mumbles its a lovely coastal tour. The bird sanctuary & nature reserve is ideal for a wet day as there is plenty to do in the main building with out going out on the wetlands, which have paths for less able. I did this one with my mother and late husband when it was first opened. Hope the info helps .

Great! And I remember my father (from Aberdare) talking about Rhosilli and Mumbles!

Thank you for reply. I can remember being at Rhosilli on a stormy day and watching the waves going towards the sky as they hit the cliffs, Magnificent sight. Hope you get fond memories from your trip.

You can park a car virtually inches from the beach at Oxwich - I'm local and it's my favourite; Langland is just a few steps down from the car park and Caswell is just across the road from the car park and easy to access. Rhossili is spectacular but climbing back up from there could take it out of you - there are glorious views of Worm's Head from the top of the cliffs though. Given some decent weather you should enjoy it and the views from the top of Cefn Bryn cover Carmarthen Bay. Some very good eateries around too - I hope you have a great time.

Hi all

Just got back from the Gower Coast. I followed the advice given above (Rhossili, Port Eynon, Oxwich, Caswell Bay, The Mumbles) and had a terrific time. What a beautiful place!

Thanks again!
