LOGIC and masks
Of customers have to wear a mask why ... - Lung Conditions C...
Of customers have to wear a mask why do the staff not have to also wear one this is happening in our local shops ? Where's the logic ?
There isn’t any Chrissy. Doesn’t make sense. Xxxx
My understanding is that they would have to wear one continuously for too long at a stretch. I think this is why some independent shop owners have chosen to wear the shields instead so it gives some degree of safety and confidence to their customers and perhaps themselves.
I don't understand the logic of office workers not having to wear masks as this after all is indoors. My opinion, but I think it is the government's intention to get all the empty office buildings filled again and rents being paid - pure economics!
I think it is because they are meant to adhere to the 2 metre distance rule which it is hard for shoppers to do whilst moving around a store.
Agree no logic would help if staff on shop floor had masks that would help except for ones who are exempt.
I am a volunteer in a charity shop and the staff don't have to wear masks. The reasons I were given was because we have to run round too much, and talking to customers is much more difficult. Having spent an onerous afternoon doing the till, putting stock out, checking and pricing dvd's, having to take card payments only, and keeping a close check on the numbers in the shop, I am knackered.
At last someone admits the new regime is exhausting. My daughter is finding work more fatiguing plus wearing masks. I am glad I don't have to go out as standing is so exhausting for me now since Christmas. The masks are not pleasant even if only worn for an hour. Keep up the good work Hypercat54. My neighbour works in charity shop , now having to go in every day rather than three days to keep up with changes.
Thanks Katie. I forgot to add disinfecting things as well. I do front of shop as there is a seat behind the till as I can't stand for more than a couple of minutes. I do have to keep getting up and moving a bit which is painful and I need to rest my back for a few hours after my shifts. I love it though and when the manager asks if I am ok I just say I need to get my fat lazy a**** moving 😀 x
Our local Co op staff are all wearing masks unless they are behind a glass partition at the checkout . The company ruled it , so everyone is equal and protecting each other . It may be worth contacting the shop manager .
All the staff everywhere here in Spain, have to wear a mask, cannot understand why in the UK that is not happening.
Try wearing one for 4 hours at a time whilst doing housework and speak clearly all the time and you might understand?
This is what is worrying me, thought of places I want to visit at end of my shielding, but am so scared on hearing staff don’t wear masks that have decided not to bother.
sopsx
To wear a mask all day while working in a shop would be quite unbearable, if all the customers wear masks the staff should still be protected. They do probably need to wear a shield.
Remember we are just popping in and out of shops, they are there all day.
I think the reasoning is that it would be difficult for staff wearing one the entire shift. That seems perfectly logical to me. Also the main argument for face coverings is that you are protecting other people and it seems to me that the great british public ducking and diving in and out of shops and from who knows where, poses the greater risk. Both to each other and to shop staff (who deserve a medal btw).
Yes. In my case we only have 3/4 volunteers left in the charity shop as most of them are older or shielding, and without us the shop would close. I do wear a very thin mask in other shops and on public transport even though like all of us I am exempt, but I can't do it for more than around 20 minutes.
I have only been to a shop a couple of times( daughter doing shopping for me) but I find that my glasses steam up and I can’t see properly.
Ive got to go for blood tests on wed at local hospital im dreading it as the home next to it has had several deaths due to covid i shall sit in my car till a minute before im due to go in as you have to wait at the door a minute before it will be my third time out since 11th march the other 2 were doctors appts
I agree just don’t understand it my daughter works at Tesco’s and all the staff there have to wear a mask and I am glad because it protects the staff as well
You are exempt from wearing a mask if you have COPD/severe asthma/breathing difficulties. You can download a printable card or order one from Hidden Disabilities. I can’t breathe with a mask on so have ordered a card with a lanyard.
Yes I agree I will ask my daughter when she gets home we have got a Tesco express in our village but am still on Lockdown till the 1st of August so not been there yet 🙂
