Does anyone else here get anxiety? Since lockdown my anxiety has surfaced more again about meeting up with people. Today I didn’t even meet up in the forest with my sister and little nephew because of it. It’s like I know I’ll be ok when I’m there... it’s just making myself get there. I think being shielded hasn’t helped me on that front because now I’ve got used to feeling safe at home & am angst about going out...not even in regards to Covid or breathing...just a general anxiety.
Sorry for waffle!

Hello Dee, it’s perfectly understandable to feel like you do as shielding is still ongoing. I think my daughter in law is feeling the same way as she’s not willing to go anywhere at the moment.
Do you have a garden that you’d feel happy to meet your sister and nephew in? Maybe you can work something out in time.
You have Sussed out your problem madonbrew, now you have to take small steps to overcome those anxious feelings.
I have felt a bit like it, realised what was happening and made myself take that first step. I just walked to the local shop. To get a newspaper. I did feel apprehensive but I met people I didn't know, said good morning and continued on the journey. I felt good about what I had achieved and decided to make the same short journey each day. It got easier as it became part of my day.
Don't leave until tomorrow what can be done today. A quote my grandmother used a lot.
Thank you both of you! I used to get really bad anxiety but it’s got so much better over years. I need to try and nip it in the bud before it gets worse.
A little walk to the corner shop on my own sounds like a good idea! It’s strange cos it’s not always! I was fine the other day and met for a socially distanced walk in the forest the day with a friend. It seems to come in waves.
Thanks though for your kindness and encouragement!
I think lots of people are anxious and not just those shielding. Each time we do a small thing e.g. a walk round the garden centre, going for milk, going into a large shop the next time will be easier and the time after even easier. What I’m finding however is that although it gets easier it doesn’t get any more enjoyable. What is enjoyable is having friends in the garden and a couple of bottles of rosé!
I'm not anxious at the moment but I'm sure that will change when I go back to work. Don't beat yourself up. We all deal with things differently.
I was very much the same and had a telephone appointment with my consultant yesterday. He said going back to work as a carer in a nursing home is too risky. He said I can ask if there’s anything I could do working from home or even maybe in the office, but not have the close contact with residents and staff. I haven’t approached work yet but it’s helped with the anxiety just talking to my doctor and hearing him say it. He said he can write a letter if work are funny about it.
Is there anyone who can do a similar thing for you?
I’ve written to work re taking a non face to face role whilst this is going on .i.e telephone consultations etc. Made plenty of suggestions. Basically told no and they can’t pay me after 1/8/20. OH rang me supposedly to do a risk assessment but just kept quoting England’s guidelines at me re PPE and 1mtre + distancing . ( I was worried re not being able to keep 2 mtr distance never mind one) It can’t happen in my job as it’s hands on as yours is. So looks like I’m gonna have to quit ... it’s too risky.
Hello Chris hope all is good with you.. have you spoken to your Dr and try getting some advice? My niece works in a nursing home and she has bad brittle asthma her go recommended it were too risky in the environment and said he would issue her a sick note and if work got akward he would write a letter to OH keep in touch all the best
