I take Fostair. Works for me. No problems with it, but I understand from previous posts that it doesn’t suit everyone.

I've been on it for 2 weeks I'm finding it good but it has steroids in it that's the bit I don't like

The steroid element is very useful in that it can prevent or reduce inflammation, which is good.

I was worried about the steroid bit too but accept it as the price to pay for easier breathing. My respiratory nurse told me the steroid dose was low and it shouldn't cause any steroid related problems. I was on Symbicort for years and never had any issues. x

I used to be on Symbicort which was fine. Then when the new Gold Standard came out was put on a non steroid inhaler which was useless. I asked to go back on Symbicort but was put on Fostair instead as there is apparently a shortage of Symbicort.

I find Fostair good but not quite as good as Symbicort, but beggars can't be choosers,

Thank you hypercat54 most interesting. Was on Budesonide. Find fostair much better

That's good. Fostair seems to be one of the most common inhalers so it must be effective. x

I've been on a fostairnexthaler for around 2 years and I've found that my health has been much better- i haven't needed any antibiotics in this time. I would say that I now have lots of bruising on my skin - ARMS AND LEGS- and my blood sugar levels are now borderline diabetic which I put down to the fostair. x Anita

Is taking fostair worth taking if it gives you these other health issues thank you Anita🤗

My general health is so much better. I was always ill before and on lots of steroids and antibiotics so probably those steroids had a greater effect on my sugars and now it s hard to keep them at a good level x

I was changed to Fostair about 4 years ago. It has been good for me in controlling my asthma symptoms well.....but.... the amount of steroid you actually receive is high because the particles are smaller than in other inhalers so that more of the dose gets absorbed from your lungs. Since I have been on it I, too, have had bruising. You only have to touch me and I bruise. It's not a bleeding problem, so I guess is down to the steroid dosage. Very unsightly...I use concealer when I go out.

Fostair is the best I've taken - I was switched from Seretide about 5 years ago, I get the bruising too on arms and legs but a lot better health-wise so I think it's a minor side effect.

I have been taking Fostair for the last few months, I'm fairly recently been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and Fostair is the only one I know so can't compare, but I find it seems to work.

Does anyone know if their is any significant difference in Fostair and Symbicort ? as I am all for trying something new if it's even better.

Hi Mavary

That's good to hear seems to be working well for me 😊

Like many others I have bruises all over. Especially my arms and legs. Being summer I’m wearing cutoff trousers and short sleeves. I can’t unserstand what I’ve done to door frames but they seem to like attacking me and if there’s a coffee table near me so do they. It’s really annoying me.

I quite agree that it’s the steroids that do it. They also make the skin very thin. Mine rips for a pastime. I’m always patched up with plasters.

Ditto Mavary - my easy-chair goes for one spot on my leg, never misses and it bruises even through thick jeans. Skin is paper-thin too but patients on other steroid inhalers have had the same so I agree it's all down to the steroids.
