COVID 19 FOOLS

I was so annoyed with the scenes from beaches and illegal raves that I have penned a poem. (Not as good or uplifting as Dons.

Covid 19

Unseen it arrives

Like a boggart in the mist

Taking lives

With great success

The nation locksdown

To protect the NHS

Families torn apart

To try to control this mess

Causing distress

Vulnerable oldies shielding

Limited movement

Ignored by morons

Gathering in the park

Or basking on beaches

Like overweight walruses

Ignoring spacing

The second spike

Will be their legacy

They could die alone

And overrun the medics

As church bells toll

When will Boris see

The fault lies at his door

"Overweight walruses" 😂 I don't know why they don't just do what we do here . Any gatherings at the beach etc. and the local authority gets on the booming loud speaker and tells people to clear off, every few minutes. It's loud but necessary. And the locals are not afraid to tell "visitors" to go home . I don't understand this mentality. I really don't. I'm afraid a deadly second wave is now imminent. Take care of yourself Pantani . xx 🙋🐕

I aim to take care of myself Caspiana. I tend to self isolate from when our flu season starts so I havnt mixed much with other people since before Christmas. I think that the use f a similar approach to your authority could be what we need. I cant understand the lack of goverment action given the numbers involved. Im expecting a new spike here and a return to a stricter lockdown. You take care of yourself Caspiana and Chom.👍😁🐕

It should also be the responsibility of the people to be sensible. No use relying on the (any) government to keep safe. We'd all be dead. Have a good night Pantani . xx 😊👋

Hope the spike is not severe Cas sad to see that the idiots are causing others to die due to their stupidity. You take care 😷🐱🦋🐿 xx

The people are responsible for there actions, we can't live in a nanny state.

Pantani profile image
Pantani in reply toShirleyj

Thats all very well until their selfish actions cause an increase in Covid 19 and number of deaths. These people are their own worst enemies.

Your right, but when the government said to stay in, people were still out protesting and rioting and nothing was done. People need to be back to work and school now.

The trouble is it’s us with lung complaints that will suffer for it. We’ve already spent a long time shut in. When it starts again they will all laugh about it and say what a good day it was while us shut in will have to wait even longer for freedom. It’s really not fair and very selfish of them.

Bardear profile image

Totally agree Mavary.

It is both extremely selfish and irresponsible to gather in droves and not do social distancing as advised. Maybe this 2nd.spike which we all expect but dread will perhaps affect them more than the 1st.time because they have been so unco-operative. We, as a shielding group, would certainly be the first into lockdown and the last out again.

Apparently if they find a vaccine it will - according to the papers - be given to the over 50's but I don't think it would include any of us over 50's shielders as we would be forbidden or should I say advised NOT to break isolation and so AGAIN we would lose out.

If a vaccine is discovered and it has been cultivated in/on an egg to which I am allergic (no flu vaccine for me egg-free flu vaccine is no longer produced) I would have the vaccination and request stand-by antihistamines and medical assistance in the surgery after being vaccinated just in case of any severe allergic reaction.

Stay safe everyone

lol

I think maybe the ones who have run free should be the last ones to get the vaccination. I too react to the egg used in the flu jab but I don’t react badly only in the fact that my arm swells. So I take antihistamine as soon as I have it and also rub on antihistamine cream.

The area I live in has been free of Covid for a few days until today I notice in several places around there are new cases. I think maybe this is the start. It would coincide with all the gatherings.

People are responsible for their own actions but I do think the messaging isn’t harsh enough. Boris needs to send a tougher message - all I hear (and I don’t watch it all because it just annoys me) is how well everyone has done to control the virus, how well everyone has followed the rules. Is he blind?! He needs to acknowledge in every speech that there are selfish idiots not adhering to the (woolly) guidelines and they could cause a second spike. He needs to say it is unacceptable. It might not make a difference but he’s ignoring it. Having said that, the country saw hundreds, thousands gather in protest and nothing was done. A worthy cause but equally as irresponsible as those on the beach during a pandemic.

I quite agree. I live in an apartment and we have people determined to not follow the rules. I’m having to use my back door to go out as there are four people who because they can’t go out they insist on sitting in the lobby being about a foot from anyone coming in or going out. They've already had problems with a few of us by sitting below people’s windows and talking loudly. I personally had to ask them to move as they were either under my bedroom window or between my bedroom and kitchen window. I live on the ground floor. This started with the good weather in April and has gone on until they have been asked by a few people to move. It was driving me mad. Even our manager has asked them to move and was sworn at. When they’re not in the garden annoying people or the lobby they’re gathering in the hallways. I don’t know why they don’t get married and go to live in a commune.😂🤣.

I think you are right. There needs to be some hard and fast rules from Boris.

But! Would they take any notice. Mmm! I wonder!

They may not listen...but the softly, softly approach is not right during these times.

I hope you get some peace from your neighbours soon. Sounds like a nightmare - some people just don’t think of others. It’s very sad. 😞

I never believed that my poem would create so much discussion and I think the powers that be should read the posts here to get a better idea of the feelings regarding the speed of lockdown. My next poem won't be as contentious.
