I have COPD and have just been released from hospital having had Covid 19. I have not been good since coming home my breathing really awful and I have developed a cough which I have never had before. I can only walk a few steps before getting breathless they tell me it will get better with time which I hope happens soon as I am becoming fearful of walking at all anyone got any suggestions of how to cope

Covid 19
I would not stop walking about at home, do what you can and rest when you need to.
Breathlessness is part and parcel of lung damage, I live with this every day (I don't have covid 19, being breathless doesn't mean you stop doing things, it just means you live each day with breathlessness.
Keep in touch with your doctor by telephone about your concerns.
Hope you will find day by day there is a little improvement.
Best wishes
Hi & hope your felling better soon, place place to ask & receive any type of advice is right here.
Rest as much as you can and build up your energy. Eventually you will be able to breath a lot better. Have a good night and take care 😊 Bernadette xx xx 🌈
I'm glad you are home. Being very breathless is now my normal (not because of covid).
Do little at a time. If sitting to do small tasks is easier than standing then sit.
Give yourself time to build your strength.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
Much love xx
I am going through the same problems, the only way I can get a hot cup of coffee is if my partner makes it for me, when she is not at work. If I do it, then I have to wait to get my breath back and hope I don't fall asleep, again and it goes cold. You need patience, it is going to take quite a while to fully recover. I agree it is not nice to keep falling asleep involuntary and getting breathless just by brushing your teeth.
2 greys in an earlier post said it takes about 6weeks after main recovery for tiredness and breathlessness to recover. I’m about 3 weeks through this 6 weeks. I’m feeling a bit stronger. However if I try to push myself gently I relapse . I did that this morning and spent the afternoon in bed, feeling awful. So accept it, do a bit but take it gently.

It’s a steep climb from what those who’ve recovered say. Take care, and build up slowly, it will take quite a while but hopefully you’ll get there. Let us know how you’re getting on xx
Take it slowly, rest whenever you need to. Hope every day makes you feel a little better. Best wishes to you.
Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery. Take things one small step at a time.
hi moggie57 i had pneumonia beginning of october last year had it in my left lung was in hospital for 4 days it took about 8 weeks before i even felt a bit normal just do what you can an rest inbetween you will get there but it will take time
Good news that you are now at home on road to recovery. It must be terrifying. Who nows how you are to cope. First instinct is I guess look after yourself and rest up as much as you can. Go a bit slower and make yourself number one priority
Try not to worry Moggie , I spent 15 days in hospital with Covid 19 and came home 4 weeks ago. I don’t have COPD but I do have Bronchiectasis. Before leaving hospital I could not walk more than a couple of steps without gasping for breath, even standing up from a sitting position I was struggling, but I was determined to get home.
We are lucky at home to have a downstairs loo but even then I thought twice before making the journey as I knew I would be difficult, and going upstairs to bed at the end of the day was a real trial which I could only manage by taking one step at a time and trying to catch my breath before the next step.
As long as I was sitting doing nothing my breathing was fine and I felt reasonably well but as each day went by I could manage a few steps more without gasping and after a week I could manage walking 20 yards or so. The improvement has been slow but now, after 4 weeks, I can walk 200 yards and can manage the stairs fine.
I use an oxymeter to check my oxygen several times a day and it is only now getting back to my normal levels, it still drops a lot after any form of exercise .
I am sure that you will continue to feel stronger as the days go by but this virus affects everyone differently and those of us with lung issues have to be patient and accept it may take a little longer than those without.
Stay positive, you have beaten this horrible virus and you are through the worst of it, it won't be long before you are back to your normal self.
I am really glad to hear you are home and recovering, albeit like a mountain to climb😔Just take it easy🤗🌺🌷

Hi
Had the same problem, rushed into hospital and they wouldn't take COPD as a result of my bad breathing. I did. go into an isolation ward fortunately on my own so hopefully didn't get ant nasty bugs over me. What a performance getting out though and what a stink I had to kick off to get a doctor. (That's Spain for you) . You will feel bad for a few weeks but it will pass with the help of antibiotics.

Hi Moggie, my father has COPD and he caught Coronavirus 6 weeks ago. He had similar issues with you and struggled to walk a few steps for a while. He is back to normal but, but it did take a few weeks. It was a gradual thing, but he did improve.
Best wishes,
Guy
I hope you improve soon. It sounds very nasty and it seems to knock people well and truly for six. All the best Moggie
