Hubby has another bout of both ankle cellulitis but this one taking ages to heal. It’s affecting his mental health. GP is difficult to get an appointment during quarantine. He’s never sought treatment for it but this bout is very concerning. ANY TIPS TO IMPROVE HIS CONDITION?

He needs to contact gp. Can’t believe he never sought medical help previously. Cellulitis can be very serious. He may well need IV antibiotics.

Please contact gp or 111.

Please contact GP or 111 as cellulitis can be very serious indeed. My husband had it in his leg at the end of 2018, it developed into sepsis.

Get medical help. Xxxxx

I have had cellulitis 3 times in my foot and ankle. It spread up my leg, to the knee, without going in to detail, it went very bad. I had two weeks iv antibiotics in hospital, progressed to septicaemia and l nearly lost the leg. Since then l have been very cautious. I was given an emollient cream to use every day to try to preserve the skin so it is less vulnerable. I would advise elevating the leg and at least getting oral antibiotics. Best wishes. Keep safe.

Hi Bronchbaby, your husband definitely needs antibiotics. He should contact his GP practice immediately. They will probably offer a telephone consultation which in my experience works really well or if the doc thinks he needs to be seen there should be a practice in your area who are offering patients the ability to see doctors in a none Covid practice. I have had cellulitis since the lockdown and it took three weeks of antibiotics and lost of ointments and dressings. I hope he gets better soon, it is really nasty and it is very dangerous to leave Cellulitis untreated. Keep safe, Maximonkey
