Amazing!! Had a call Tuesday from social care health - how are you are you getting shopping how are you getting prescriptions etc etc so wonderful eh! Then yesterday I got a similar call from the local borough also checking I was ok and did I need assistance.
Now I can get online shopping within days but first off was 6 weeks! I now get my prescriptions ok although they did mess it a bit but how great is this. I live in the London borough of Waltham Forest so wondered if any others were getting them?
Can’t post without a cat pic - this one is Pepparuby girl 😍🌹

Yes Sassy. I’m getting them. I had a general one, from GP surgery, how is your breathing, are you managing alright. A couple of days later the asthma nurse from the surgery rang, was I getting my meds ok. General chat, changed Braltus to Spivira Respimat. ( Pleased with that.)
Then this week another call from the GPsurgery offering me a pneumonia vac, which I took. ( Under normal circumstances I am too young.) Then not long after that I got another call from the LEA hub.
Each time I have been contacted I have said I am doing fine.
I have never had so much attention in my life! It is very reassuring in these times.
That’s Great news Troilus!!! Hey I changed back from Braltus to Spiriva Respimat- best thing I ever did!!! I was on spiriva respimat but the nurse suggested I try Braltus which I did for three months and had two chest inflections - she kept telling me to wait until the spring - but I demanded to be changed back just as covid was starting but glad I’m feeling so much better on it x
It is so much easier to take! When you need Braltus the most it can be difficult to suck it out of the capsule. I’m quite sure half of it just landed on my tongue.
Looks like you're well looked after in london , my local council phoned last week but I told them I was ok for everything , I'm not sure whether pr is active posing or just superiousley indifferent, either way nice photo
Wish I was, I now get priority slots with Tesco, but as yet no food parcel. Plus, my GP changed my Pred to 1mg tablets for 5 mg tablets. Rang for repeat from pharmacy and I got 1mg again. Hurts my fingers putting 5 x 1mg tablets into my pill sorter, rather than 1 x 5 mg tablets. GP hadn't taken the 1 mg off the script, just added 5 mg on.
Hi Pepparuby yes I too had a couple of calls from the local council to see if I was ok getting shopping medication etc., which I am. lovely picture of your cat. Xxx
I live in Gloucestershire and have had a call from a district councillor, closely followed by one from the count council hub organiser with the same advice. Fortunately I don’t need it as yet. Our lovely independent pharmacist is delivering our prescriptions and so far Sainsbury’s have been very good as my husband has been prioritised. It’s good to know help is available if we need it.
Hi pepperruby1 , I too had a call from drs and council asking if I needed help, luckily I had just set up pharmacy for u to do my prescription delivery and have been lucky enough to use local products suppliers for shopping, we have never eaten better. I used to live in Waltham forest now on the Isle of Wight. All the local authorities are stepping up to help which is great to see.stay safe everyone
Isle of Wight how lovely I used to go on holiday as a child to Bournemouth and used to want to visit the island - never been but it’s certainly a beautiful place
You’re like me then getting everything delivered - have to say makes me feel old! 😂
I am getting these to, I get them sometimes on Fridays and they are lovely. they have offered to do my shopping and get my prescriptions for me, they ask me how I am doing.
Good morning pepparuby1. Pleased to see you are being looked after with help with shopping etc. Are you self isolating and staying home??.. If my memory is right from my driving days Waltham Forest is a nice area. Hope your well and have a nice weekend Brian
Bingo yes been told to stay in for three months. Thank goodness I’ve got a garden... Waltham Forest is a nice suburb of London - I’m literally a road from Epping Forest x
Our local Council here in Mid Devon actually phoned me yesterday to see if I was ok and getting shopping etc Even at 72 it makes you feel old but thought about T he young woman said is it ok if I phone you back in a couple of weeks In the meantime if you need anything just give us a call
How sweet to know someone out there actually cares
Glad you're getting lots of help. I'm 82, have COPD, and have to be on oxygen 24/7 but the support here in Wales has been abysmal. We shop regularly on-line with Tesco but when I tried to book a slot it involved a five week wait. When I contacted them they said that special slots for people like me only applied in England not Wales, Scotland or Ireland. To say that I was livid would be putting it mildly.
I had a phone call too and it was so nice to feel I was noticed somewhere, that someone had their eye on me. It was very reassuring. I live alone with my family living far away from me and I am shielding. I am so thankful that I have a small garden that I can escape to in this glorious weather.
I also had a call from local care team, for the first time ever i didn't feel invisible and it was nice to feel somebody had my back. I live in Plymouth Devon, and apart from direct contact from my respiratory consultant and physio, and GP I have never been contacted by local authority everI was overwhelmed by their kindly manner.
Sorry - NHS have lost the plot. At 83 on two of the medications originally listed - COPD can only blow less than 50% of normal and with severe arthritis which stops me walking any distance without aid - I am now told by my Surgery that I no longer qualify due to changes in criteria.
So I can do my own shopping and collect my prescribed medication- but if I ring my local Council the may be able to put me in touch with a local charity....!!!!!
The goal posts seem to change week by week - perhaps it's a way to remove oldies from the system - you see without a letter I am unable to get deliveries from local stores as they are fully booked by "snowflakes" - I despair- but hey ho must keep going....😡
This is dreadful!!! I wonder if you could just register on the gov health and social care. I’m thinking this is down to Gp surgeries although I have little hope with mine to be honest - they mess everything up cause unwanted stress yet they seem to have done this right although I’m moderate Copd? 🤷♀️
This doesn't seem right at all. Do get in touch with your local council, surely everyone over 70 is advised to stay in? And even if you've already done so I'd go back on the government site and register as needing help. I do hope you get something sorted. Best wishes.
hi i live in Oxfordshire, and also have been contacted by the local authority(3 times to date), social care, my GP, one home visit one review by phone, My pharmacist, and a volunteer scheme.
I think this level of support is amazing, i never answered more than one telephone call a week before. Living on my own, in a rural area, life has up to now been quiet, and i am grateful for the priority food slot that i would not have been offered before.,
I got the same call - then spent hours fretting about what info I'd given in case it was a scam! I'd only given one name so I hope it's kosher (a mobile number - maybe he was working from home). If kosher, it was very nice of them to check.
I had originally ticked the ' need no help' box as have daughter living nearby, but have had to admit defeat, go back on Gov. UK and change options. In last week have had box of food, priority slots from asda and tesco, phone calls from food centre and doctors surgery. Its nice to feel you've got some back up, especially when living alone as many of us do.
It's good that they are looking out for you thankfully the shopping slots are getting better and your meds are coming right or wrong it's all good news for you. I'm glad.
