The government text telling you to stay at home is not the shielding message. I had both. The shielding msg came from NHS and l received the letter about 4 days later. Hope that helps. Apparently only about 900’000 sent out so far. Really confusing.

Actually that number could be 90,000 not sure now.

i've had the government message. sufficient to strike terror into the heart of anyone who didn't already know what it was saying. no info on why they'd contacted me. terrifying, had i not been a cool, calm, and collected type of person (?)

The government message was sent out to most people.....I wondered how they knew my number, apparently the phone providers send out the message automatically.

I had two separate NHS messages....one was for an app, the other saying stay at home, but no time span given.

I haven’t received a letter from the NHS.

The government is supposed to be sending another separate letter to all households.

I have been trying to explain it all to a friend.

If you haven’t been using your phone much, some companies do cut you off.

Can you contact your phone company via your computer or tablet .

Can you try emailing your gp , Council or Citizens Advice today....explain you have no phone contact .

Keep in touch on here too.

Best wishes.

Knitter that is so clear. Thank you Unfortunately I only read it after going through rigmarole of ringing here there and everywhere! The government email was sent to everyone ,not just us at risk. Didnt realise that

So confusing.

Pharmacy phone is off hook . surgery is recorded message re wait for letter Even bank says ring back later and cuts off . Does everyone else feel really isolated. ? Money and cheque book useless Havent got internet banking and scared of making a mess of trying to get it and possibly lose internet altogether. Cannot risk that but have to. It is my lifeline talking to people,

I am not desperate for food and i feel so sorry for those in dire need .

As regards mobile although i cannot use it i hsve found the original bill from 2003 and although it has gone to another company i have a contact number to try.

Thanks again

Keep well

I have the NHS letter.

It STATES AS FOLLOWS:

The NHS has identified you, or the named person you care for, as someone at risk of severe illness if you catch Corona virus (also known as COVID-19)

THIS IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE: an underlying disease or health condition that means if you catch the virus you are more likely of serious illness than others.

It goes on to say:

And to isolate for twelve weeks stay at home and avoid face to face contact except from carers and health care workers who you must see as part of your medical care.

I hope this is helpful for all who have not received their letter as yet.

That's interesting as I have severe asthma and was told by the GP surgery there isn't a letter going out, she just referred me to a Gov.uk website about getting a note for employees about self-shielding. So much confusion about this! I'm following the guidelines Asthma UK have given out about self-shielding.

I think that is a good course of action. ccccc

Severe anything to do with breathing is serious but to be honest, I think anything to do with dicky lungs is serious and should be warned of potential danger for the individuals.
