Everyone who has severe or very severe airflow obstruction. This is measured using a breathing test called spirometry where you blow out as hard as you can. If the amount of air you can blow out in one second is less than 50% of the normal range of values, it is classed as severe. Severe or very severe airflow obstruction is sometimes described as GOLD grade 3 or GOLD grade 4.

People who are limited by breathlessness – this means that you can’t walk as fast as other people of your age because of breathlessness. This may be described in clinic letters as an MRC breathlessness score of 3, 4 or 5.

People who have had to be admitted to hospital in the past because of an acute attack of the lung condition.

People who have had 2 or more exacerbations or flare-ups in the past year that needed emergency treatment with steroids or antibiotics from the GP or hospital.

People who are on regular steroid tablets, called prednisolone to treat their condition

People who have oxygen therapy at home

People who use non-invasive ventilation at home – using a mask connected to a ventilator, sometimes called BiPAP, to support their breathing at night

Hope this helps and you don't need to wait for a letter, please stay in until otherwise advised if you are on oxygen therapy.

So that looks like it will be me...I guess the GP will sort through the records.

My health centre was shut for hours last week, I guess for planning.

I have a garden, and a husband and daughter who share the house. And access to the Internet, some of my friends with breathing problems don't.

I can't go out much anyway, and my three social activities are on shut down.

But I feel for those who may have no outside space, or no one to talk to directly.

I hope there will be advice on how to manage three months isolation.

My car is booked for its MOT, even though I can't use it for months......stupid things like that worry me.

It such a surreal situation.

GPs have been asked to identify patients considered to be medically extremely vulnerable so the NHS know whom to contact.

I have severe emphysema in both lungs and received a text today from NHS Corona virus Service informing me I've been identified as someone at risk of severe illness if I catch Coronavirus. I've been asked to remain at home for a minimum of 12 weeks. I understand I'll receive a confirmation letter by 29/03 and further information in due course.

See the link below;

I have received a text letter from the NHS confirming my vulnerable status so I am sure you will too. I’ve already been self isolating for the last couple of weeks. I’m sure you will be on the list too

Stay safe and take care to all our community ! Xxx
