I'm asthmatic and was diagnosed a year ago with bronchiectasis in my right lung, it was actually partially collapsed at time of diagnosis. They also say I'm in early stages of copd. At present, since my diagnosis and new medications, i am in the best condition I've been for years! But I'm worried as many of us are about Covid 19.
I work across my Borough in schools with children on a 1:1 bases, these children have visual impairments so my work inevitably involves very close contact. Should I still be doing this and am in in the 'at risk' category?
Thank you x

Hi Sanpat. Bronchiectasis is a serious condition. Given that the corona is a respiratory illness we should all be protecting ourselves. You are far more at risk from serious effects than the children you work with. It is highly likely that they will get it sp mildly that they will not notice it but will give it to you.
I know that it is difficult to give up work when you need the money, your employers probably have no understanding of bronch and the govt is not at present advising those with respiratory conditions to separate themselves. I suggest that you speak to your employers.
Although the media is full of the over 70s as being an at risk group, I don't think that it will be long before they advise all those with underlying conditions to isolate or separate themselves. Remember your health comes first. If you protect yourself now you will be available to continue your valuable work when it is all over.
❤ I really feel for you. Personally if able to I would give up work and hopefully you'll be able to return in the future. Best of luck and keep safe 😘 xxx
