US to extend coronavirus travel ban to UK

The US is to extend its European coronavirus travel ban to include the UK and Republic of Ireland. The ban will begin at midnight EST on Monday (04:00 GMT Tuesday), Vice-President Mike Pence announced.

This is the only sensible option. I cannot fathom why the UK was exempted when the initial decision was made. I wonder if UK will follow suit and begin restricting flights?

No plans so far, HMG appear to still let all travelers in and out. The borders remain open. The only halt to travel is other countries being in lockdown, which is increasing in numbers now.

I'm in the US and Politico reported that the reason for the exclusion was because of Trump's resorts in Britain and Ireland.
