From cradle to grave it was said to be

And everything will be completely free

We'll take the cash from out your pay

So you'll be paying along the way

The collecting bit has worked quite well

But where they did spend it? Who can tell.

Wouldn't we like to know? Cheers Don. Hope you are keeping your chin up in this absolutely atrocious weather. Are you a gardener by any chance? If yes are you planning ahead? Chrys

in reply toRoadRunner44

I'm not a gardener by even the slightest chance, Chrys, but I am planning ahead. I've just written to trustinblue.com/ to see if they can find me a regular gardener. 😉

Hi Don, Just had an e-mail back saying they don't have anyone in the area I live. So disappointed. Anyway, I wrote back asking the areas of Wales they do cover. If I get a reply and information Ill happily pass it on to others who may be interested.

All for now, Chrys

They spent it on my hernia and on trying to make my dodgy lungs work

So i don't mind the contributions they took from me at work

Some doctors never wanted it they were worried about losing money

They lived in a rather unfair world and lived on milk and honey. :) x

in reply toskischool

If I remember correctly, and I'm sure I will.

You ought to ask for your money back, if you paid the bill. 😉x

They always said the was no guarantee and never gave money back

So on this rare occasion i will cut them all some slack. :) x

If you work they take it from your pay, so it isnt really free. The fact that they now employ so many tiers of managers looks like a leak in finances along with the interference of so many politicians making bad decisions. It is a great institution treated correctly and we should fight to keep it x

Hi the problem with the NHS was that it was set up on the premise that once they had dealt with the huge backlog of those who couldn't afford it before, the need would decrease. Instead the opposite happened as need increased and has done ever since. x

A lot has gone to me!! Firstly about half my working life in NHS then 30 odd years of expensive medical and surgical treatment. When NHS first started, my condition would not have been treatable, so problems arising because we are now too good with illnesses.

Maybe it’s an irony that those (patients) who benefit most in financial terms are those who suffer with the most significant health issues. Better to be well and have the money you paid in go towards others less fortunate.

The NHS is a wonderful system and should be protected.

Enjoy your day, Don.

Love to you and Midge

Corin

I spend a lot of time these days (well a bit anyway) ponding on the greatest events that happened during my lifetime. It's an age thing I suppose, when you start to see the dark at the end of the tunnel. 😉

We will soon be celebrating VE Day in great style on the 8 May 2020 and I wonder if we will celebrate July 2023 when the NHS will be 75 years old.

My parent’s generation were the ones to benefit from the establishment of the nhs and social system. Now we have to wait till 66 before you can get your pension. So working longer.

I can remember my mum saying they used to pay the penny doctor which I think meant they paid 1 penny a week for the doctor, that was before the nhs x
