Since my seemingly inexplicable breathing problems began, completing yawns has become more and more of a problem for me.
I now can't yawn at all when lying flat, or when I'm moving. I have to stand still and upright too. I have found that raising my hands above my head or pressing underneath my stomach helps though.
Has anybody else ever experienced this with their breathing issue?

Yes Dave,I have done for years,I have emphysema,it’s sometimes the only way I can get air into my lungs, even then it’s insufficient or doesn’t work at all,I also have a heart condition that excaserbates it!
Hi DaveT81 yes I had this problem back in spring 2018 it started with me finding it difficult to yawn or take a deep breath.
Anyway to cut a very long story short! It got worse and I was diagnosed with ILD with pulmonary fibrosis and myositis (an autoimmune condition) in January 2019. I’ve been steroids ever since and got so bad had to have 6 cycles of cyclophosphamide (chemo) to stop further damage.
I have been battling this myself for awhile. Heart doc did catherization, stayed I had Diastolic Dysfunction. Been taking diuretic but still have issues. Thought it was allergies and according to allergist it is not cause. Saw a pulmonologist and don’t have COPD or emphysema based on Spirometry and Chest CT scans. Hard to believe, as I smoked a long time 4 decades. Nerve racking to not know the specific cause. Don’t run out of breath while exercise but can’t take a deep breath. Not overweight.
Is your diaphragm working properly? Sometimes the diaphragm can go into spasm or get lazy and that stops you breathing into the lower part of your lungs. Try some diaphragm singing exercises on YouTube and see if they help.
