I just throw a few nuts on the floor now for squirrels.this is an attempt to stop them from destroying the nut feeder

That's cruel

We had a family of squirrels lived in our tree at our old address. I used to feed them on monkey nuts and spent a lot of time watching them. They too were seen upside down on the bird feeders.

Pretty stupid. If they did make it up the pole, they come down forwards and could fall and get hurt.

I spend a fortune each week feeding wild birds and also have a separate squirrel feeder for monkey nuts. I love wildlife and nature and if the squirrels want to eat from the bird feeders I'm OK with that. I find the video cruel and not in the least bit humorous.

I did laugh when I saw it and found it funny and harmless to the squirrel. I am also old enough to remember our native red Squirrels which have sadly been killed off in many places in England by the foreign grey squirrel, so whilst I certainly wouldn't harm them, neither would I encourage them to flourish at the expense of our own beautiful little red ones,

Using a baffle on the feeder will stop squirrels from getting up the pole. Easy peasy.

So funny, squirrels are so agile they could jump from this and not hurt themselves x

How did it get round the baffle ? I had a similar system with baffle but that did not defeat them so greased pole but one was clever scaled a fence some distance away took a flying leap and landed on baffle but slid off other side .did nt get film of it though.

Love it! Rats with bushy tails. We have had them in the loft twice, they had gnawed through the wooden soffits to get in. It would have been a standing order with pest control who kill them if we hadn’t given in and replaced the attractive wood with hideous, non-environmentally friendly but squirrel-proof, plastic. What a choice. Next step plastic crocuses as the b****y rabbits have eaten each crocus shoot as it appears.

Neighbour has some large trees and suirrels living in them. Whilst they can be entertaining to watch, it's a bit of a pain when they dig up our planters to bury the peanuts she gives them. Funny really, she (neighbour) hides pea nuts for them to find, which they do and re bury them in our planters. :-)

I know they look cute but they are destructive and they bury all this stuff but later have no idea where they put it. So......they just dig everywhere in the hope that they get lucky.
